Hitters

Play of the Day: Ian Desmond – Both Ian Desmond and Carlos Gonzalez check in outside of the top 40 priced OF options tonight while playing in Coors.  Desmond returned from the DL to go 2-3 with a walk yesterday, while Cargo is 5-10 with a HR off Perdomo.  The Rockies have the highest projected run total of the night.

Top Play: George Springer –  If paying up, Springer faces the lefty Miranda tonight, and is 4-11 vs him, with all four hits going for homers.  His nine game hit streak ended yesterday, but batting .463 with three homers, three stolen bases, and 15 runs over his last ten games.

Value Play: Chris Davis – Davis is just 1-11 in three games since returning from the DL.  The O’s have one of the highest projected run totals after the Rockies tonight as they face the righty Cashner.  With plenty of top 1B options tonight, going cheap with Davis would work well in an O’s stack.

Value Play: Yan Gomes – Wolters for the Rockies may be more popular at minimum price tonight, but Gomes makes for a sneaky pivot from Wolters tonight.  Moore is just 1-5 over his last ten starts, allowing at least four runs in five of his last seven starts.

Pitchers

Play of the Day: Lance McCullers – McCullers is the top priced pitching option tonight, and the largest favorite by far of the slate.  Lance is 2-0 vs Seattle this season, striking out 15 while allowing just two runs over 11 innings.

Top Play: Jon Lester – Lester is coming off of his worst start of his career as he was unable to get out of the first inning.  He went at least four innings in previous 334 starts.  Faces Atlanta at SunTrust for the first time, and is 2-0 with a 0.42 ERA in last three starts vs the Braves.

Top Play: Jason Vargas – Vargas leads the AL with 12 wins, and is second with a 2.62 ERA.  His 7-1 record, and 1.84 ERA at home this year lead the league this season.  He’ll be facing the Tigers for the first time tonight since 2014.

GPP Play: German Marquez – Always a risk to take a pitcher at Coors, but always nice to target the Padres.  Marquez allowed six runs in five innings to these Padres in June, but also recorded a career high 9 K’s.  Tomlin also in play for gpp’s vs the Giants.
