Stacks for Thursday, June 29

Early Slate:

First, the early slate only features three games for FanDuel, but all five for DraftKings.  Best to stick to gpp’s for early slate, as Jon Lester is a current underdog vs Joe Ross, Corey Kluber has double digit K’s in three straight games with the highest price tag this morning, and Brad Peacock stuck out eight A’s in his last start, but not pitching deep into games.

Arizona, Cleveland, Houston, Detroit all check in projected run totals of over five this morning.  If playing the morning slate, the Indians would be my favorite target of the group.

Toronto

Everyone, including Vegas, keeps believing the Blue Jays have an offense that should be scoring five plus runs every night vs average to below average pitching.    While they have yet to do this through the first two games of this series vs the O’s, tonight provides them their best chance to breakout vs Ubaldo Jimenez.  Ubaldo has a 7.26 ERA this year, and has allowed two homers in four of his past nine games, including two straight.  Finally, he is only 2-3 with a 6.33 ERA pitching at the Rogers Centre.

The one area that may keep some off of the Blue Jays is their BvP vs Jimenez.  The two players who went deep last night have struggled the most vs him.  Bautista is just 3-38 and Justin Smoak is only 2-21 off Jimenez.  He’s 33 years old now, and believe BvP should not be fully considered here tonight.  While their power comes mainly from the top half of their lineups, with top pitching tonight, I don’t mind targeting the bottom of this lineup which should still have plenty of opportunities tonight.

Top Stack Suggestions:   Jose Bautista, Justin Smoak, Russell Martin, Josh Donaldson

Secondary Stack:  Steve Pearce, Ryan Goins (or Barney if starting), Troy Tulowitzki, Kendrys Morales

Milwaukee

This is a mx of the power potential of the Brewers, and targeting their opponent, Homer Bailey, tonight.  Bailey had his first start over the past weekend this year after coming off the DL, and was hammered for eight runs without making it out of the second inning.  Washington went on to score 18 runs that game.

Keep an eye on Ryan Braun tonight.  He may get a day off, but he now has a double and homer in his two game back.  His homer last night tied him for most of any hitter visiting the Great American Ballpark with 23 long balls.  He’s 12-37 with two homers vs Bailey.  Travis Shaw went deep for the third straight game last night, and has set a new career high already this season with 17 homers.  Since Thames went deep in four straight from 6/14-6/17, he’s only 3-37.  If stacking the Brewers, it’s still best to have Thames in there.  Arcia is batting 5-9 in this series, and provides you with some salary relief.

Top Stack Suggestions:  Travis Shaw, Ryan Braun, Eric Thames, Orlando Arcia

Secondary Stack:    Travis Shaw, Orlando Arcia, Keon Broxton, Domingo Santana (or Perez if starting).

San Diego

With Kershaw and Archer pitching tonight, you may need to find plenty of value options tonight, and the Padres are the full stack team that could provide that for you tonight while still being in a plus matchup.  They have scored at least five runs in three of their last four games, after scoring three or less in their previous five games.

Atlanta has Jamie Garcia taking the mound tonight, who has allowed six earned runs in back to back games.  He hasn’t pitched on the road this month, but his last two road starts ended without Garcia allowing a run.  Both were on the West coast, and receives nice ballpark boost tonight.  They key for the Padres tonight remains in their price tags.  Only one projected starter, Myers, is priced above $3K on FD, and joins Pirela as the only two priced over $3.2K on DK.

136 of the Padres 729 strikeouts (18.7%) have come on curveballs this season (Rank: 30th of 30 in MLB), but the curve would be considered Garcia’s fourth pitch type only.

Top Stack Suggestions: Manny Margot, Hunter Renfroe, Carlos Asuaje, Wil Myers or Cory Spangenberg.
