Catcher

Cash Play:  Early:  Sticking with Victor Martinez as my catcher tonight.  Finally got a hit last night after an 0-15 streak.  He is 10-31 with 2 HR’s vs Santana.  If looking to punt, hopefully we get a Curt Casali sighting today vs a lefty at Coors.  Late:  Buster Posey will be a popular play against a lefty, but Pomeranz isn’t horrible.  If off of him, Brain McCann is worth a shot and Vegas likes the Yankees tonight, but like him more as a gpp play.

GPP plays:  Early:  The Blue Jays make for a nice early slate pivot off of the Coors game which puts Russell Martin in play.  Hasn’t went deep in 9 games, but think that ends today.  Wilson Ramos  is not listed but if starting makes a nice gpp play as well.  Late:  He sat last night, but like Matt Wieters again, and should be back in lineup.  He is 3-8 lifetime off Pineda.

Value Plays: Early:  Kurt Suzuki is practically minimum price on FD and DK.  Not ideal, but he is 13-39 lifetime vs Verlander (0 HR’s).  Late:  Jett Bandy went deep last night, and has at least a hit and run in three straight games.  Like him in a late slate gpp with Angels.

First Base

Cash Plays:  Early:  Edwin Encarnacion is the top priced 1B early, and will try to fit him in.  He’s homered in thw of his last three games, and gets a lefty today in a very friendly ballpark.  Late:  This will be a toss-up between David Ortiz and Albert PujolsBoth had big games last night, and in similar positions tonight.  My initial thoughts are to go Ortiz on FD and Aces, with Pujols on DK and Aces.

GPP Plays: Early:  A nice pivot off of Encarnacion is Anthony RizzoHe is only 1-10 vs Colon, but the one was a HR.  Plus, it’s a hot one in Chicago today, and the balls may be flying for Rizzo.  Late:  Going to have to wait for lineups, but hoping to see Matt Adams only play in the second game against the unknown Clemens.  Will wait to see how first game plays though.

Value Play:  Early:  Both Adam Lind and James Loney have cheap prices, and the ability to go deep today.  Lind finally gets back in the starting lineup after his walk off homer the other night.  Loney is the cheap version of getting exposure to Wrigley today.  Late:  Tommy Joseph was listed here yesterday, and went deep.  Nothing changes that for me tonight with a matchup vs the lefty Chen who Joseph is 3-3 with a HR against.  Can easily be used for cash games as well.

Second Base

Cash plays:  Early:  Second is loaded for the early slate. As much as I want to take one of the higher priced bats, I’m leaning towards Ben ZobristHe’s back to leading off and is 9-17 with 4 HR’s vs Colon.  On Aces though, I’ll take the discount with Logan Forsythe at Coors.  Late:  Outside of Aces, Daniel Murphy’s price is very reasonable today.  He is 6-18 with 2 HR’s vs Norris, and has homered in 4 of his last 6 games.

GPP plays:  Early:  I’m all for paying up at second today for gpp’s over punting.  Think it will depend on what teams you are targeting, but both Jose Altuve and Robinson Cano are in play.  Hard to fade Altuve who has 10 hits over his last 3 games.  Can also be used for cash games as well if you can afford him.  Late:  Going the opposite route of the early slate, and looking to punt with Johnny GiavotellaHe is one of the few Angels who haven’t been contributing lately, and will be overlooked in Angel’s stacks tonight.

Value Plays:  Early:  I don’t recommend punting at second base for the early slate.  Neil Walker does have a great DK price, and can use him as a flier.    Late:  Giavotella fits in as the late slate value at 2nd

Third Base

Cash Plays:  Early:  Try not to overthink this, and plug and play Evan LongoriaHe hasn’t disappointed in his trip to Coors with two triples and a homer in two games, and is 1-1 with a HR vs De La Rosa.  Late:  Not as easy of a choice as the early slate, but I like Travis Shaw tonight against Cain.  Five of his last seven hits have went for extra bases, and Red Sox have a nice run total tonight.

GPP plays:   Early:  Nothing wrong with Longoria here, but you also have Josh Donaldson vs a lefty, and if Longo struggles, the people who roster Donaldson will be happy.  He has 5 hits in his last 10 AB’s, and will try to fit him and Longo together on Aces. For cheaper, Luis Valbuena in an Astros stack is a great play.  Mengden is HR prone, and should be low owned compared to the big guys.  Late:  The Dodgers may go overlooked today due to their tough matchup, but feel like they are a high risk, high reward gpp play, and that includes Justin TurnerTurner has 2 or more hits in three of his last four games, including going deep in two of them.

Value Play:  Early:  Highly suggest paying up for one of the deep threats, but Jose Reyes has the chance to put up some points today.  Won’t play him on Aces, but in play elsewhere in a Met’s stack only.  Late:   Best to wait for lineups to come out to find value at 3B tonight outside of Turner.

Shortstop

Cash Plays:  Early:  Going to split it just about in half between Carlos Correa and Troy Tulowitzki. Correa is 2-3 with a HR of Mengden, and having a great series vs Oakland, while Tulu has a nice BvP going 6-14 vs Corbin, and hit safely in 7 of last 8 games.  Late:  Not 100% sold, but really looking at punting again with JJ Hardy.  He is my Miggy at SS who is just ready to breakout but doesn’t.  The difference is his low price tag which makes the risk ok for me.  Oh yeah, he is also 7-15 with 3 HR’s off of Pineda.

GPP Plays:  Early:  Outside of the two listed above, once again Francisco Lindor may be your best sneaky gpp play.  Went deep while listed in this spot last night, and is 4-8 lifetime off of Kennedy.  Late:  Just like Adams, will wait and see with the Cards, but like them for late slate gpp options which includes Aledmys Diaz

Value Play:   Early:  Tough to punt ss for early games, but can see Ketel Marte on a few lineups if leading off.  Gonzalez has been hit or miss, but pairing MArte with Cano, Lind, and Cruz makes for a nice sneaky stack.  Late:  Hardy is my favorite value play of the slate.

Outfield

Cash Plays:  Early:  The OF is pretty open for the early slate.  Not listed are the Rays OF players, but depending on who starts, Guyer and Pearce both make for better cash options over Souza.  Outside of Coors, Nelson Cruz is probably your safest play.  He is 4-11 with a HR off of Gonzalez.  Late:  Late slate is loaded tonight with OF options.  Hard to pass on Mike Trout and Ian Desmond tonight.  Both are high priced, but you can find salary relief elsewhere to fit them in.  For cheaper, but much less upside, Jacoby Ellsbury is 4-10 off of Gallardo, and should have more than a few chances tonight.

GPP Plays:  Early:  I would suggest sticking with Coors, but also going cheaper with Josh Reddick or Curtis GrandersonBoth are HR threats and can sneak in a SB every now and then.  Late:   Plenty of options to go with tonight.  If looking for solo options in a non stack situation, Andrew McCutchen and Christian Yelich both have plus matchups, but neither should be more than 5% owned.

Value Plays: Early:  If starting, Tyler Collins is a cheap option, that can produce the same as the higher priced Tigers bats that have been cold lately.  Late:   Take your pick of the cheap Dodgers OF’s.  If had to choose one, I’ll go with Puig over Van Slyke who gets pinch hit for occasionally.
