Welcome back ladies and gents of the FA Nation! We are back for another preview of the injury report after Week 1 has concluded and heading into Week 2. We do have some injury statuses to keep an eye on during the week as we head into the weekend of Week 2, so let’s discuss those!

Running Back

Marlon Mack RB IND (Torn Achilles)

Unfortunate events took place for Mack on Sunday as the Colts starting RB went down near the second quarter of their game against the Jaguars with what has been reported as a torn achilles. Mack is now set to miss the entire 2020 NFL season, leaving rookie RB Jonathan Taylor and pass-catching and newly red zone-specialist Nyheim Hines with most of the work in the backfield going forward.

James Conner RB PITT (Ankle)

Connor left Monday nights game with an ankle injury and did not return afterwards. The return may very well have just been precautionary, as we know that Connor has had quite an injury history and the Steelers could have easily opted to just hold him out and not let the issue get any worse. It was apparent that Connor did try to make a return on Monday night, played one play, and was not seen again ceding all carries to Benny Snell. However, the attempt to return could likely also be a good sign, as it showed he was at least close to good to go but may have been still a bit sore and painful to keep playing. This is a status we need to get some more reports on this week.

Miles Sanders RB PHI (Hamstring)

Miles Sanders was also held out of the Eagle’s first game of the season due to a hamstring injury he sustained in practice as well. Head Coach Doug Pederson said in a report on Monday that Sanders is “day-to-day” with the hammy injury, so most would say that this is a much better sign of his favorable return to the field in Week 2, compared to having a status of fully questionable. It was reported that Sanders likely could have played in Week 1, but the Eagles just wanted to be safe and make sure he was 100% before taking the field.

Le’Veon Bell RB NYJ (Hamstring)

It was reported by Head Coach Adam Gase that Bell’s hamstring injury could potentially place him on the side-line “for a couple weeks.” However, Gase did not place any certain or specific time-frame on the Bell injury, but at this moment, it seems the Jets are likely to be without Bell for at least 2-3 weeks after the initial reports. Huge blow for many of the Bell fantasy owners, and next up in the Jet’s backfield is Frank Gore and Josh Adams

Phillip Lindsay RB DEN (Turf Toe)

Anyone who has ever suffered a case of turf toe knows that it really isn’t a joke and it is a pretty painful injury to deal with. Lindsay left Monday night’s game after carrying the ball seven times and catching one pass against the Titans, and he did not return afterwards. Lindsay is set to have an MRI on Tuesday to see the extent of the toe injury. This is a status to monitor, as it could be a huge boost to both Melvin Gordon and back-up RB Royce Freeman if he is deemed not able to go for Week 2.

Wide Receiver

Michael Thomas WR NO (High-Ankle Sprain)

Mike Thomas was reported to have sustained a high-ankle sprain in the Saint’s win over the Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon, and this is actually the bad kind of ankle sprain. The kind of ankle sprain that could linger for a few weeks, so this is not great news to the MT fantasy owners, and if it were me, I would be looking for some alternate routes heading into Week 2 for a temporary replacer. Thomas said that he feels the injury is one that he can play through, but this has yet to see any further cause or explanations, so we must monitor this status closely, and it is a good thing the Saints do not take the field again until Monday, giving some extra healing and treatment time.Kenny Golladay WR DET (Hamstring)

Golladay was ruled out of the Lions Week 1 match against the Bears with a hamstring injury he sustained in practice the week before. We have yet to hear anything further on the extent of this hamstring injury, yet it was enough to keep him out of the first game of the season, so this could mean it is a bit more serious than expected, as he was also held out of practice after Wednesday as well. We hope to get some early reporting on Golladay this week, and hopefully some good news heading into Week 2.

Courtland Sutton WR DEN (AC Joint Sprain)

Sutton was inactive for Monday nights game against the Titans after suffering an AC joint sprain on Thursday of the week prior to the opening game for the Broncos. He was labeled a game-time decision all the way up until Monday, where he was deemed inactive and would not take the field. However, it was reported that Sutton was “very close” and more so the Broncos were just being extra cautious with their stand-out WR. His status for Week 2 should be a good-looking one heading into the week with the extra rest and healing time, but we are still yet to know if he will play in Week 2 at the current moment.

Brandon Aiyuk WR SF (Hamstring)

After Aiyuk was questionable basically all week with a hamstring injury he sustained way back in late August, he was deemed inactive for the Niner’s first game of the season at home against the Cardinals. However, new reports from Monday’s practice from Head Coach Kyle Shanahan have claimed that he believes Aiyuk will indeed return for the Niner’s Week 2 match up on Sunday in New York against the Jets. This could be a huge boost for the Niner’s receiving corp, that was missing both Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel (who is still out a couple more games).

DeVante Parker , WR MIA (Hamstring)

Parker came into Sunday's game dealing with a hamstring issue and it ended up becoming an issue for him in this game as he missed the second half after catching four first half passes. Given the nature of the injury you have to think he will be a real game time decision this week. Be sure to check out the practice reports throughout the week.

Tight End

George Kittle TE SF (Sprained Knee)

Kittle attempted to leap for an over-thrown ball in the Niners game against the Cardinals and as a result, he came down with a sprained left knee. However, after a trip to the locker room just before half, Kittle did indeed return to the game and finished it out for the 2nd half. That was a pretty encouraging sign, but we know how adrenaline works in athletes. Kittle also reported after the game that he felt “fantastic,” so this likely could just be a minor blip on the radar and Kittle is likely just fine. Still yet, he has a questionable tag on his name, and this is something we just need to keep an eye on.

Blake Jarwin TE DAL (Torn ACL)

A huge blow for the starting TE for the Dallas Cowboys Blake Jarwin as he suffered a torn ACL in Sunday night’s game against the Rams. It was made official by vice president Stephen Jones on Monday, as he confirmed the tear for certain. Jarwin will now undergo surgery to repair the tear and spend most of his days rehabbing for the remainder of the season. This will open up time for back-up TE Dalton Schultz , as well as newly acquired Blake Bell to take most of the snaps at the TE spot for the Cowboys going forward.

David Njoku TE CLE (Sprained MCL)

Njoku suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens and was later placed on Injured Reserve as a result. The reports are stating that he has been put on a three-week recovery time-frame, so this will solidify a more stable role for newly added Austin Hooper for the starting TE gig for the Browns moving forward, at least for the next month or so.
