This week’s race is the first intermediate race of the season and that means that laps led and fastest laps, or dominator points, are an important factor in building lineups for the first time this season. For cash game builds, we’re going to want to get a laps led dominator in the lineup if possible, but not necessarily necessary as you’ll see in the table below, some stats can be spread out here, and then fill in the lineup with drivers who will get position differential for you.

For GPP builds, we can focus more energy on dominator points more and perhaps get two drivers in the lineup to get laps led and then focus a bit less on the chalky PD plays and go with guys who are riskier but if they pay off will vault you up the standings. With the way the field was set, there should be a few different guys that can differentiate you in the larger field tournaments, and a couple of them are in the playbook to be sure.

As the table above shows, in the last five races, there have been two drivers to lead more than 50 laps in each of those races, and all but one had a driver lead 100 or more laps including last year’s race. Fastest laps are also solidly spread out as well with at least five drivers hitting 10 or more per race in each of the last five. What does this all mean? It means that the strategy to get dominator points on the roster is the way to build lineups here as opposed to the last few races.

The following core plays can be used in either GPP or Cash builds as the core of NASCAR lineups can be very similar for both formats with the differences being in the surrounding plays in terms of safer floors or higher risk guys. Again this is a starting point and use the playbook and other tools to help fill out the rest of the roster, and as always, you can ask any question in chat or on Twitter at @theselzman.
