There are a lot of tools available to you on Fantasy Alarm for the NFL season, so many it can be overwhelming at times, but the weekly Matchup Report might be the best place to succinctly find the mismatches in each of the games on the schedule. Every team has strengths and weaknesses and the Matchup Report is the best place to find what those are each week.

Starting in Week 2 on Thursday, the Matchup Report will showcase 25 stat categories per matchup and tell you exactly where every team in the league ranks in those categories. An example of what to expect has been included below for the season opener between the Packers and Bears.

The rankings start with things like Pace (how many seconds it takes for a team to run each play), T.O.P. (time of possession), Points Per Game scored, and Total Yards posted by the offenses. It then moves on to a breakdown of exactly how those points and yards are getting divided between run plays and pass plays and how many yards the team is gaining per attempt in both categories. Those will be helpful to look at to see who’s passing games are soaring and who’s ground-and-pound style is working to their benefit.

The second part of the rankings are defense focused starting with DVOA or Defensive Value Over Average which comes from Football Outsiders and compares how teams are performing in down-and-distance scenarios against how every other defense does. Then it moves on to how the teams rank in terms of yards given up through the air or on the ground both per game and per play and then the table finishes with fantasy points given up to each position.

Rankings included in the tables will help you find and exploit the matchups that might not be obvious on the surface. This is meant to be a one-stop-shop to find the data you might be looking for to solidify your lineup decisions and it can be used for both DFS and season-long games equally as well.

*Rankings in the example are based on final 2018 stats

** DEF VS position ranks are fantasy points allowed to that position with 1 giving up the most points and 32 giving up the fewest points.
