What do the stats mean?

Driver: Name of each driver competing in that week’s race

Races (#): How many races each driver raced in that particular table

Avg. Start: The average starting position for that driver over that span of races for that race, track, or track type.

Run Pos. (RP): The average position on the track for that driver during all of the green flag laps run in that span of races. It helps to show how a driver moves throughout the race compared to starting and finishing positions.

Avg. Finish: The average finishing position for that driver over that span of race for that race, track, or track type.

Pos. Diff.: Position Differential is the difference between starting position and finishing position. A higher positive mark indicates a driver moved up through the pack well, whereas a negative mark indicates a driver went backwards through the pack during the race, either by crashing or just not having a fast enough car.

Wins: Number of wins for that driver during that span of races.

Top 5s: Number of top-five finishes for that driver during that span of races.

Top 10s: Number of top-10 finishes for that driver during that span of races.

Top 15s: Number of top-15 finishes for that driver during that span of races.

Top 20s: Number of top-20 finishes for that driver during that span of races.

Laps Led: Total number of laps led (finished the lap in first place) for that driver during that span of races.

LL/Race: The average number of laps led per race run in that particular table. Gives an idea of how many or few laps you can expect a driver to lead.

Fast Laps: Total number of laps clocked as the fastest car on the track regardless of position in the field.

FL/Race: Fastest laps total divided by number of races run in that particular table for that driver. Gives an idea of how many fastest laps a driver averages.

Top 15 rate: Percentage of laps run in top-15 spots compared to total laps run during that span of races. Example: Top 15 rate shows 80%, that means that 80% of that driver’s laps run over the course of that number of races were in the top-15 positions on the track.

Qual. Pass: A Quality Pass is a pass in which a driver passes a car driving in the top-15 under green flag conditions. In the current package measuring the quality passes has become important to see who is the best at moving through the field in the downforce package.

QP/Race: Amount of quality passes per race in that span. Used to compare drivers by like numbers since each driver has a different amount of races in the same span.

Avg. Rating: The average driver rating for that driver during the span of races in the table. Driver rating is a combined calculation to express how well a driver did in a race. A good explanation can be found on NASCAR.com or using the link in my Intro to NASCAR DFS article. A perfect race rating-wise is 150 with the low rating near 30.

Laps Comp: Laps Completed is the total number of laps in which the driver crossed the start/finish line in a race.

LC/Race: Amount of laps completed for that driver per races run by that driver in the span of that table. It compares like numbers since each driver could have a different number of races run in that same span.

Last 2 Avg.: The average points per race over the last two of that race for either DraftKings or Fanduel for that driver at that specific race.

Last 5 Avg.: The average points per race over the last five of that race for either DraftKings or Fanduel for that driver at that specific race.

DK Seas. Avg.: A listing of each driver’s average fantasy points per race on DraftKings for the season regardless of track or track type.

FD Seas. Avg.: A listing of each driver’s average fantasy points per race on FanDuel for the season regardless of track or track type.

Rankings: Race history ranking is the rank of that driver’s average finish in the last four of that specific race. The Momentum column is based on average finish over the last x number of races during the current season (this column will kick in after the 6th race). The DK and FD points averages are the rankings for their points scored on those sites in those spans amongst the others in the field. Track History is the average finish rank amongst others in the field over the last 8 races at that specific track. Track Type History is the ranking of that driver’s average finish amongst the others in the field over the last 16 races at similar tracks. 1 is the best and 40 is the worst.
