The first short track of the season is here as the Cup drivers take on the famed Paperclip of Martinsville Speedway. This tight, flat, short track that’s just over a half-mile in length, is the only track that’s been on the NASCAR schedule every year since the sport started, dating back to 1948. It’s also the only track to have asphalt straightaways and concrete corners.

With this being the first short track of the season, make sure to check out the strategy notes in the Track Breakdown write-up to get a very good grasp of what we’re looking for in builds this week. Also, take a listen to the podcast as that will have a good strategy discussion as well as perhaps a few extra drivers that aren’t in the playbook.

Average Points By Starting Spot

These charts show the average DFS points scored by starting spot over the last five races here regardless of the drivers starting in those spots. They aren’t hard and fast rules but help get an idea of strategy and can be a tiebreaker in builds.
