Fantasy Football Outlook: Allen Lazard's Return
Jon Impemba takes a look at Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard who has been designated to return from IR this week in time for the Packers Week 11 matchup
Designated to return from IR a few weeks back, the Packers have finally activated wide receiver Allen Lazard in time for their Week 11 matchup against the Colts. Lazard is currently available in in 55-percent of ESPN and 58-percent of Yahoo standard leagues. With the waiver wire period hitting tonight for most, Lazard would jump towards the top of my board for waiver claims this week along side Michael Pittman and Josh Reynolds .
In the three games that Lazard played this season he averaged an 88.7-percent share of the offensive snaps while totaling 13 catches on 17 targets for 254 yards and two touchdowns. Lazard entered the season with a lot of hype as the Packers number two receiving option opposite Davante Adams after the team did little to add to the position during the offseason and for those who invested in Lazard during their drafts it was hard not to be excited with how he started. Unfortunately, a core muscle injury sidelined him following the team’s Week 3 win against the Saints and he has been on IR ever since.
So, what can we expect from him moving forward? Well, the Packers have a tough matchup in Week 11 as they face a Colts defense that ranks 4th in DVOA against the pass this season but they have yet to play a quarterback with the passing ability of an Aaron Rodgers so I have some hope that their passing game can have success. Knowing that the Packers tend to bring their plays back slowly from injury I also feel pretty confident that Lazard will see a decent snap share here and while it may not immediately be 90-percent, I feel safe in thinking it could be in the 60-plus percent range.
Following the matchup against the Colts, the Packers see the Bears, Eagles, Lions, Panthers and Titans. The Titans will be in Week 16 which is championship week for most fantasy leagues and present an amazing matchup as they rank 25th against the pass per DVOA. The Panthers sit 24th, Lions 23rd and Eagles 21st so you kind of get the picture here. Things look real good for this passing attack in the coming weeks.
Snag the Lazard King while you still can.
