10 Team League

Eduardo Rodríguez , SP BOS – ERod has been solid over his last five starts, posting a 3.45 ERA while striking out 32 over 31.1 innings. He faced a really tough Twins lineup that does damage against left-handed pitching in his last outing and fared well, allowing four runs over seven innings while striking out nine. His start this week will be against a White Sox team that has ranked towards the middle of the pack against southpaws all season long.

Joey Lucchesi , SP SD – Lucchesi is making a start today against the Pirates which means his next start won’t come until later this upcoming week. He will draw a solid match up against a Cardinals lineup that is just utterly lost right now. Against LHP this season St. Louis ranks 19th in wOBA and 29th in batting average at just .230. Lucchesi is pitching really well right now and I like him for an end of the week streaming option.

12 Team League

Aníbal Sánchez , SP WAS – Sanchez has been solid over his last five starts, going 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA while holding opponents to a .198 batting average.  This week we see Sanchez return to his old stomping grounds as he faces the Tigers in Detroit. The Tigers offense is abysmal against RHP this season, ranking 29th in wOBA and ISO while having the second highest strikeout rate. This is a great spot for Anibal.

Eric Lauer , SP SD – If you want to hold his blow up in Coors Field against the Rockies against him that is fine but if you would just focus on the starts before that and after you will see that Lauer is on quite a roll right now. If you take a look at his starts since the beginning of May he has a 4.25 ERA but if you take out his two starts that were in Coors Field that drops to a 2.09 ERA over the remaining seven outings. He has a home start against the Cardinals coming up this week and as I mentioned above, the Cards rank 19th in wOBA and 29th in batting average at just .230 against southpaws on the season.

Dakota Hudson , SP STL – Hudson has been impressive for the Cards since entering their rotation. Over his last ten starts, a solid sample size, he has a 2.48 ERA with an opponent batting average against of .241. He faces the Padres this week and they are a team that has the highest strike out rate against RHP this season while also ranking 23rd in wOBA and 21st in team batting average against righties.

Ross Stripling , SP LAD – Speculative add/stream here as Stripling is reportedly entering the rotation in place of the injured Rich Hill . Stripling was impressive as a starter this season, posting a 2.65 ERA while striking out 32 over 36 innings which spanned six starts. He is expected to start against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday so just look for confirmation, but I like him as a long-term add as long as Hill is on the IL.

15 Team League

Adam Plutko , SP CLE – Plutko has allowed 14 earned runs over his five appearances this season but seven of those runs came in a lone start against the Rays. Outside of that start he has a 2.82 ERA with 19 strikeouts over 22.1 innings. He has a very favorable two-start week on the horizon as he faces the Royals and Orioles. The Royals rank 29th in wOBA and 28th in ISO against RHP over the last 30 days while the Orioles rank 28th in wOBA and 26th in ISO.

Logan Allen , SP SD – Speaking of how bad the Orioles are, Logan Allen will get to make his second career start against those very O’s. For the sake of not repeating myself just take a look at the analysis above for Adam Plutko to see how bad the O’s offense has been and while those numbers are against RHP they haven’t been much better against southpaws either, sitting at 21st in wOBA and 26th in ISO. Allen impressed in his major league debut, tossing seven shutout innings while striking out five while also winning the $1 bet against John Cena (Google it if you don’t know what I am talking about).
