Coors Field Stack

As is always the case when the Rockies play at home you can go ahead and build stacks of both teams.  Both teams are throwing lefties tonight which actually gives the advantage to the Rockies in my opinion and Colorado stacks should include Trevor Story , Nolan Arenado and Ian Desmond who are all raking against left-handed pitching this season, especially when facing left-handed pitching at home.  For the Giants, Andrew McCutchen and Buster Posey should be featured in most stacks as well as Alen Hanson , Gorkys Hernández and Nick Hundley if he is in the lineup at catcher.

Houston Astros vs Mike Minor

Though they haven’t been as deadly against southpaws this year as they were last year we are still going to roll with the Astros here against Rangers southpaw Mike Minor .  Minor has allowed 10 runs on 14 hits over 15.2 innings against the Astros this season and on the year has a 4.64 ERA over 15 starts. Houston as team ranks second in runs scored, fourth in team average and fourth in team OPS against left-handed pitching this season.  Leading the charge for this stack will be third baseman Alex Bregman who is coming off a month of June which saw him hit .306 with 11 home runs and a 1.085 OPS. Against left-handed pitching this season Bregman is hitting .299 with a .983 OPS and that mark is on the rise as he hit .425 with a 1.417 OPS against lefties during June.  Altuve is also worth considering as part of this stack given his upside but this season he has not been as effective against southpaws as he was during his MVP season last year. At catcher you can use either Evan Gattis or Max Stassi . Stassi is hitting .324 with a .917 OPS against left-handed pitching this season and he is 2-for-5 with a double and a home run in his career vs Mike Minor . As a value play you can consider Jake Marisnick who hit .286 with a .948 OPS during the month of June.

Contrarian Stack

Cincinnati Reds vs Dylan Covey

Covey got off to a strong start this season but things have started to unravel over his last few starts as he has allowed 20 earned runs on 16 hits over his last 11.1 innings.  Lefties are the way to go when attacking Covey as they are hitting .301 with an OPS of .848 against him and the Reds have plenty of left-handed power in their lineups. Start this stack with Scooter Gennett who is coming off a strong month of June and has already homered through two July games.  Next up is leadoff hitter Scott Schebler who hit .330 with an OPS of .952 during the month of June and has already gone 3-for-9 with a double and a home run during the month of July. To complete the three man stack you can go a few routes in my opinion with Joey Votto , Jesse Winker and Adam Duvall .  Votto has the most upside but he has struggled this season and might not be worth the price tag. Winker will likely be the most popular play of the group as he is hitting .292 with an .805 OPS against right-handed pitching this season. Rounding out the stack is Adam Duvall who is a decent GPP flier given his home run upside
