Pittsburgh Pirates vs Dennis Santana

Pirates went and hung 11 runs on the Dodgers yesterday after tagging rookie Caleb Ferguson early and often.  On Thursday the Dodgers are sending Dennis Santana to the mound. Santana will be making his second appearance of the season.  During his first appearance he allowed five runs on six hits over 3.2 innings against the Rockies.  Though the Pirates beat up on left-handed pitching last night they also have plenty of bats that do damage against right-handed pitching as well, ranking sixth in runs scored vs righties this season.  I will be looking to Starling Marte , Corey Dickerson and Josh Harrison as my primary stack.  You can also use Gregor Polanco and Josh Bell as lesser owned options.

St. Louis Cardinals vs Trevor Richards

Richards was impressive in his last outing, allowing just one hit and striking out 10 over 4.2 innings but he has otherwise been a mixed bag this season, going 0-2 with a 4.94 ERA.  The Cardinals lineup is starting to click after an early season slump which puts guys like Matt Carpenter and Marcell Ozuna in play.  Right-handed hitters have an OPS of .879 off Richards this season as well so using Tommy Pham , Jose Martinez and recently surging Yairo Munoz are good options as well.

Colorado Rockies vs Tyler Mahle

I know this game is not at Coors Field but The Great American Ballpark is nearly just as good for hitters.  The Rockies scored six runs last night and nine runs on Tuesday so they have had little issue against this Reds pitching staff.  I expect that trend to continue against Tyler Mahle this afternoon.  Mahle just faced the Rockies two starts ago and allowed four runs on six hits over five innings.  This season lefties have a .932 OPS vs Mahle so Charlie Blackmon and Carlos González are musts.  DJ LeMahieu and Nolan Arenado are also worth playing every day regardless of the matchup when building a Rockies stack.

Contrarian Stack

Philadelphia Phillies vs Tyler Chatwood

I love stacking against Chatwood because he walks so many batters that it creates opportunities to drive in runs.  Chatwood is also struggling against left-handed hitters this season so Phillies leadoff man César Hernández is lock as is outfielder Odubel Herrera .  Paring with Hernandez and Herrera I will be using Carlos Santana who is hitting .324 with an OPS of .851 over the last 10 games.  He has also hit seven of his nine home runs this season against right-handed pitching.  If looking to spend down you can go with Aaron Altherr who went 2-for-4 with a home run during last night’s contest and Scott Kingery who is hitting third today.  Both players are under $3,000 on DraftKings today.
