Western Conference Finals Game 6

Houston Rockets @ Golden State Warriors

Golden State Warriors -12.5; Total: 213.5

Houston Rockets lead series 3-2

The Rockets head to Oakland with the NBA Finals just one win away.  The deck is stacked against Houston however as not only will they have to deal with the road crowd, but they are also without All-Star point guard Chris Paul who injured his hamstring during the Rockets Game 5 win.  The Warriors are heavy favorites tonight and will be looking to stave off elimination and head back to Houston for a chance to reach their fourth straight NBA finals.

Players To Watch

Houston Rockets

James Harden - Harden has really struggled over the last two games which has included an 0-for-20 stretch from three-point range since the second quarter of Game 4.  Harden was 0-for-11 from three-point range during Game 5 as the Rockets were lead by Chris Paul .  Unfortunately, Paul suffered a hamstring injury during the final minutes of Game 5 and will be inactive for Game 6.  Harden will need to be much more efficient while still scoring in the 30-40+ range if Houston stands a chance tonight.

Eric Gordon - Gordon could very well decide the fate of the Rockets in this series as he steps into the starting lineup in place of the injured Chris Paul .  We saw Gordon put up elite scoring numbers earlier this year when Paul was injured and he has already stepped up big in this series which two games of over 20+ points.

Clint Capela - The Rockets have limited Capela’s minutes during this series as his role does not completely matchup with what the Warriors do offensively BUT with Chris Paul out tonight the Rockets could rely on his defense more than trying to match shot for shot with Golden State which seems unlikely to happen given the loss of Chris Paul .

Gerald Green - With Eric Gordon moving into the starting lineup the Rockets will look for Green to step into the role vacated by Gordon off the bench.  Green has the ability to be an impact scorer and can even defend a little bit as well.  He is shooting 40-percent from three-point range during the series and increased minutes could lead to increased production.

Golden State Warriors

Kevin Durant - Durant has been panned by the media for disappearing at times during the Warriors last two games in which they lost to the Rockets.  Despite his apparent disappearing act he still scored 27 and 29 points in those contests.  The Warriors are big favorites tonight and with Chris Paul missing for the Rockets this game could be a blowout come the second half.

Stephen Curry -  Curry is shooting just 32.6-percent from three-point range during this series but in the two home games this series he shot 11-for-25 from three-point range which is 43.5-percent.  With this game being in Oakland tonight I expect Curry to have a huge night, especially with the fact that Chris Paul has already been ruled out with an injury meaning he will draw either James Harden or Eric Gordon defense.

Klay Thompson -  Thompson is averaging just 16.4 points per game during this series against Houston as PJ Tucker and Trevor Ariza have held their own defensively.  Despite that he is still shooting 44-percent from three-point range during the series and with the home crowd behind Golden State tonight I am expecting big things from their top players.

Pre-Game Props

Q1. The last made shot of the 1st Q is a two-pointer.

I actually went with a NO for this question as I am expecting both teams to come out firing with three-pointers.  It is also a 4.1x multiplier by going with NO and seeing as this prop closes at the end of the contest it could be the difference maker in winning and losing.

Q2. Both teams combine for six or more three-pointers made in the 1st Q.

I went with YES for this question as I expect both teams to come out firing from beyond the arc.  Especially the Warriors who have shot much better at home this series than on the road.

Q3. Which team scores more points in the 1st Q.  Houston has a +4 handicap.

I went with the Warriors for this as they are a huge 12.5-point favorite to win tonight’s matchup and I think that is actually being generous as the Rockets will be without Chris Paul due to injury.

Q4. The first made shot of the 1st Q is a three-pointer.

Yes, I believe the scoring opens with a Steph Curry three-pointer.  As I stated above, Curry is shooting 43.5-percent from three-point range at home during this series.

Q5. Either team scores seven or more points by the 10:00 minute mark.

I went with YES here as I expect the Warriors to get off to a fast start from three-point range with the pace of this one being pretty frantic to begin with the Rockets trying to answer with their own three-pointers.

Q6. Which team wins the opening tip off?

I went with the Warriors winning the opening tip here.  I think Durant gets the tip and Curry goes and hits a three-pointer to open the scoring.
