49ers WR Travis Benjamin has opted out of the 2020 season.

Benjamin spent most of 2019 on IR with a quad injury and didn't see the field much even when healthy. He finished the year with just six catches for 30 yards. His overall production has declined in every year since 2015. Benjamin was unlikely to play a major role for San Francisco but Richie James (wrist) and Deebo Samuel (foot surgery) are both looking questionable for Week 1. Add in Benjamin's decision to opt out and the wide receiver room in San Francisco is becoming increasingly vacant. The team could look to add a veteran in the coming days.

Browns OG Colby Gossett has opted out of the 2020 season.

Gossett recorded four starts with the Cardinals in 2018 but hasn't seen any action since. He was on New England's practice squad for a week in 2019. Gossett was unlikely to make the final roster in Cleveland but could have given some extra depth to the team's interior offensive line. Pelissero reports that Gossett qualifies for the high-risk stipend.

Raiders waived DT P.J. Hall.

The Raiders traded Hall to Minnesota for a seventh-round pick but the deal fell through when Hall failed his physical. Hall, a second-round pick in 2018, started 18 games for the Raiders but never made much of an impact on the field. Hall could land on another team but is still unlikely to finish the summer on a 53-man roster.

Eagles placed RG Brandon Brooks (Achilles) on the active/PUP list.

The move is just paperwork at this point as Brooks’ season was lost as soon as he tore his Achilles' tendon in July. Brooks was Pro Football Focus' top rated guard in 2019 and was still only 30 years old. The team has since brought back Jason Peters, a veteran of Philadelphia's line, to fill in for Brooks.

49ers placed WR Richie James (wrist) on the active/NFI list.

James was just removed from the reserve/COVID-19 list but is still recovering from wrist surgery. He underwent the procedure in June. With Deebo Samuel (broken foot) also on the mend, Brandon Aiyuk has a clear path to starting in Week 1.

Colts LB Skai Moore has opted out of the 2020 season.

Moore has only appeared in 10 games over the previous two seasons, notching one start. He recorded just four tackles in 2018 and none in his only appearance of 2019. Moore was a long-shot to make the team as a special teams contributor.

Raiders OC Greg Olson said the team is planning for third-round rookie Lynn Bowden to take snaps at quarterback.

"We believe that he can transition and be a running back, as well as do some of those plays at the quarterback position that he did in college," was Olson's exact quote. "You see the game changing from year to year, the use of the RPOs and the use of the Taysom Hills, those type of players that played the RPO-style offense in college, they become valuable." First and foremost, Bowden is going to be a running back, but he has the skill-set to be an elevated Wildcat back. There won't be enough touches to go around for 2020 re-draft value, but Bowden is an intriguing Dynasty league stash.

49ers activated RB Jeff Wilson from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Wilson spent only five days on the COVID list, meaning he was asymptomatic. The Niners' No. 4 back won't be guaranteed to make the 53-man roster if Jerick McKinnon is healthy, but he is still in good shape.
