Welcome to the DFS Playbook for NFL Week 9!
Are we readyto keep this winning momentum rolling? With the Texans/Jaguars game getting an early start in London plus the Sunday and Monday night action, we've got just 10 games for the main slate and we're missing a lot of marquee names as a result. No DeAndre Hopkins or Leonard Fournette . No Tom Brady or Lamar Jackson . No Ezekiel Elliott or Saquon Barkley . That means we're likely to be seeing high ownership percentages for a very small group of players and then action spread out all over based on the research we've all done and the players we trust the most.
Lineup construction is going to be key this week. We have a few salary-savers who could pop into cash games due to high ownership, but it's going to be about how you build around them. Are we paying up at quarterback or running back? Is there enough value in the mid-to-lower tiers at wide receiver? Do we go big on a tight end or do we punt? Obviously there is more thn one way to skin a cat, build a lineup and take down a GPP tournament, so be sure to read all the breakdowns below. Sometimes there are pivot names you need to pay attention to in the event of a questionable player not playing or suddenly someone comes back from an injury. Without needing to be coy, we can just say it -- Davante Adams and DeSean Jackson are two names we are monitoring VERY closely becuase if they play, there's a ripple effect that will certainly change how we feel about a certain player.
Oh, and because it's just the 10-game slate, be on the lookout for some names you almost never see me recommend. I won't say desperate times call for desperate measures. More like -- let's leave our preconceived notions at the door and just look at the data and the match-ups without reading the names. I remember two years ago when I "whispered" Eric Ebron as a GPP play and used him in my lineups. He hit big, the lineup cruised and everyone got on me because I spent the previous three years running him down. Sometimes you see an opening and you just have to take it. We do that here today.
