If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime.

We take this adage to heart when it comes to playing NFL DFS. The Fantasy Alarm Playbook isn’t just about handing you a list of players and a lineup to use each week. It is designed to help you learn to be a better DFS player. It’s about teaching you the process used in selecting which players to scout and, eventually, which ones to use.

Therefore, we will begin each week with the Weekly NFL DFS Watch List which is designed to keep tabs on marquee names, chalk plays and, of course, the weekly bargains who may not see the same coverage and exposure. This piece will be continuously updated throughout the week, based on the most recent news and injuries which means you may see a name or two removed as we get closer to kick-off. You may also see a few late-week additions who pique our interest for some reason too, and by the end of the week, this Watch List will eventually become your Playbook. Again, it’s about teaching you the process.

No need to be discouraged if you struggled in Week 4. Most of us did. Injuries, dramatic changes in game flow and just all-around tough reads (Rams defense???) can all throw your game off, but they are more the exception than the rule. Stay the course, stick to the process and let's pick ourselves back up and make some money this week!

THURSDAY NIGHT MATCH-UP

Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks

As a reminder, check out the Game Preview of tonight’s game from Ryan Hallam and I also made a few notes in the write-up for the Monday-Thursday DFS slate earlier in the week.

Injury Notes:

none

Spread: Seahawks -1.5

O/U: 49

Weather:

Mostly cloudy, mid-50's to low 60s with winds around 6-to-8mph

Match-Up History:

The Rams have won the last three-straight against the Seahawks and four of the last six.

Last season, the average margin of victory for the Rams was 3.5 points and both games exceeded a 64-point total.

If you are playing the Showdown Slate, here’s who I like:

Russell Wilson , QB SEA -- Going back to the history of running backs on a short turnaround, that Chris Carson saw such a heavy workload and Rashaad Penny being more fo a pass-catcher than a betwen-the-tackles guy, I'm thinking this game could turn into a bit of a shootout as it has over their last two meetings. The Rams are allowing an average of almost 240 passing yards per game and got torched by the Bucs on Sunday.

Jared Goff , QB LAR -- His 517 passing yards were in response to his defense getting shredded by Jameis Wonston and that could be a possibility this week as well with Wilson. The Seattle secondary has been struggling mightily this season, so it would seem Goff should be able to find his receivers downfield with ease.

Rashaad Penny , RB SEA -- Carson is still the lead dog, but for Showdown purposes, I'll lean Penny here as the pass-catching back. Expect Casron to see his usual 15 carries, but don';t be surprised to see Penny being the more effective weapon.

Malcolm Brown , RB LAR -- We all know Todd Gurley isn't the player he once was and on the short week, I'm banking on Brown doing a substantial amount of the heavy-lifting this week, including some goal-line poaching like we saw in Week 1.

Cooper Kupp , WR LAR -- He's Goff's favorite target, especially inside the red zone. Jamar Taylor is going to have his work cut out for him.

Brandin Cooks , WR LAR -- He'll spend most of his time lining up opposite Tre Flowers who is not even remotely the cover corner Shaquill Griffin is and Griffin isn't all that great either.

Tyler Lockett , WR SEA -- Spending most of his time in the slot puts him against Nickell Robey-Coleman most of the night and that actually grades out retty favorably for the Seahawks.

D.K. Metcalf, WR SEA -- He could have an explosive night if the Seahawks can get him in one-on-one match-ups with Marcus Peters . If they get the safeties to bite on some play-action, Peters won't get the help over the top he usually needs.

Gerald Everett , TE LAR -- Seattle ranks 26th against the TE position and are allowing an average of 44.3 yards per game to them this season. Just be wary of the ol' Tyler Higbee special.
