Impending free agent LeSean McCoy said he plans to play next season.

McCoy wants to sign with a contender or somewhere he can serve as veteran depth. There’s unlikely to be much interest after McCoy looked washed in the 10 games he appeared in last year, but with Super Bowls in back-to-back seasons, some team may be willing to give him a non-guaranteed deal. McCoy turns 32 in July.

Raiders OL Richie Incognito (ankle) has resumed running.

Incognito is three months removed from season-ending surgery. He was effective for the two games he played in last year but isn’t a lock to be back as a 38-year-old coming off injury. The Raiders can save $5.5 million if they move on from Incognito this offseason.

The Broncos are likely to place at least a second-round tender on restricted free agent Tim Patrick.

Patrick is coming off career highs, posting a 51/742/6 line as a 15 game starter. Denver may play it safe and give him a first-round tender, as there could be league interest in the 27-year-old. It’s possible the Broncos shop Patrick this offseason given their depth at receiver, but he'll be brought back if he isn’t traded.

Free agent WR Rashard Higgins said he wants to re-sign with the Browns.

Higgins hasn't received an offer from the Browns' front office, but the No. 2 or No. 3 receiver is hoping one is coming his way. With the Browns opting for more 12-personnel than most, Higgins' is likely looking at a reduced role in 2021 if he re-signs because Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry are under contract. Higgins was a fringe flex option without OBJ last season in good matchups. His ceiling remains low, but he's a quality depth option for an NFL franchise. Higgins will be 27 years old.

D. Johnson - RB

HOU

Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson reports the Texans want to keep David Johnson for 2021 but at a lower salary.

Johnson is set to make $8.5 million in 2021, but the Texans can save $6.4 million against the cap by releasing him. If D.J. became a free agent, he certainly wouldn't sign for more than the $8.5 million he's scheduled to make, so it makes sense for the two parties to agree to a paycut and enter the season as the unquestioned starter. Assuming Johnson returns, he'll have RB2 appeal if Deshaun Watson stays and doesn't sit out. If Watson is traded or sits out, Johnson will struggle for top-24 production. He's a classic boom-bust RB2/3 in early fantasy drafts with Duke Johnson out of the way. The Texans' first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft isn't until Round 3, so Johnson is unlikely to face rookie competition next year. It all comes down to Watson's situation.

Texans released C Nick Martin.

Houston's former second-round pick in 2016, Martin, the younger brother of Cowboys G Zack Martin, was signed to a three-year, $33 million contract two years ago that included $18.3 million guaranteed. The Texans will ultimately save $6.25 million against the cap by moving on, simultaneously losing its starting center in every game for the past three seasons. Martin, 27, is notably an above-average pass blocker but struggles creating holes in the running game. The organization could instead opt to shift starting right guard Zach Fulton to center moving forward.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Julian Edelman (knee) remains unsure if he'll be healthy enough to participate in the 2021 season.

"My understanding is he does want to play in 2021," Rapoport said of Edelman's current status, "that's not the important thing. The important thing is his knee going to be healthy enough to play. He's still rehabbing. He's still recovering. Still trying to see if he's healthy enough to be out there for the 2021 season." Due $2.8 million in base salary this upcoming year, the Patriots will likely keep the veteran around if there's even an outside chance he's available at some point mid-season. 35 in May and obviously still recovering, however, Edelman remains one of the easier fades in any offseason fantasy drafts. He should be considered questionable for Week 1.

D. Johnson - RB

Texans released RB Duke Johnson.

The move saves the Texans around $5 million in cap space for 2021. Johnson played in 27 games for Houston and rushed for 645 yards and three rushing scores. An excellent pass catcher, Johnson reeled in 72 balls for 659 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns during his two seasons with the Texans. Johnson was relegated to a situational back in the Houston offense, seeing double digit carries just three times in two years. He averaged a mere 3.59 targets per contest in 27 games with the Texans, much to the frustration of Duke Johnson truthers everywhere. Johnson didn't stand much chance of making the 2021 roster with Houston entering full rebuild mode. Johnson, who will be 28 in September, should catch on with a team in need of an experienced third down back.
