They say practice makes you prepared for fantasy football drafts. Or is it that enough mock drafts makes perfect? Well, however the saying goes, it’s early-August, and that means fantasy football enthusiasts everywhere are taking part in practice, aka “Mock”, drafts. The staff here at Fantasy Alarm, along with many other industry insiders from varying outlets, gets really involved in the Mock Draft Army which is annually under the command of FA Head of Content Howard Bender. Let’s use the most recent ADP results from the Mock Draft Army while attempting to identify some of the current bargains on the board at the wide receiver position.

Tyrell Williams (SD, ADP - 88.50, WR - 41) - Due to an early-season injury to Keenan Allen in 2016, Williams moved up the Chargers depth chart and proceeded to put together a breakout campaign, hauling in 69 passes for 1,059 yards and seven touchdowns. The oft-injured Allen is back in the mix now as is 2017 first-round draft pick Mike Williams, who is currently trying to overcome a herniated disk in his lower back.

The frequency of targets is almost certainly going to decrease for Tyrell Williams. It is difficult to imagine, given the rapport he built with Rivers last season and his overall skill set, that the third-year pro will fall to flex territory in 12-team leagues, particularly with the discouraging health history of his aforementioned teammates.

Cole Beasley (DAL, ADP - 160.84, WR - 64) - Beasley was one of the main factors in quarterback Dak Prescott’s emergence as a rookie last year, as the sure-handed slot man set several career-best statistical marks. In his fifth NFL season, Beasley finished with 75 receptions, 833 yards and five touchdowns across 16 games while coming up with 76.5 percent of his targets, good for tops in the league among wide receivers with 50 or more.

Beasley simply lacks the WOW factor of others at his position that will typically leave the board before him, but he can be counted for steady production pretty much week in and week out, especially in PPR formats, and costs nothing more than a 13th or 14th-round pick in most cases. There’s virtually no risk here.

Kenny Stills (MIA, ADP - 180.84, WR - 66) - We all know by now that Ryan Tannehill (knee) is on the shelf and veteran gunslinger Jay Cutler has turned away from an unpromising, seemingly ill-fitting turn in the broadcast booth to take over at the helm of the Dolphins offense. Cutler has annoyed many a fantasy-football owner over the years with his erratic play, but one thing he has done is serve as the quarterback for several top-notch wide receivers.

Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker are certainly the names that folks are looking for first among Miami wide receivers, but Stills has nice upside as a serious deep-ball threat that is going in the final round or two of drafts and sometimes not even at all. The 25-year-old speedster hit paydirt a team-best nine times last season and has averaged 16.9 yards per catch over the past two years for the Dolphins. In 2017, he will have the much more aggressive Cutler flinging him the football.
