LPL DFS Playbook - Slate Jan 25th 2021 

 

 

The LPL has a short slate today (only two games!), but both games have exciting players to watch. The slate will probably split with Edward Gaming heavy favorites over ThunderTalk (TT) and JDG only as slight favorites. 

 

Game #1: Edward Gaming vs ThunderTalk

Favorite: Viper (EDG: $12,000) Viper is an easy pick for Captain as the star ADC looks to further his stats against a moribound TT. The team’s leader in kill share (KS), Viper has done well to adjust to the LPL. 

Value Pick: Loken (JDG: $11,400) Leading JDG in kill participation (KP) and KS, Loken should have a great fantasy performance against Rare Atom. You should play Loken over Viper only if you want to be able to afford an upgrade at either team or jungle, but with a favorable matchup he should be reliable to perform at the top of the key. 

 

Favorite: Flandre (EDG: $6,600) The EDG top laner played well in his sweep of LGD on Tuesday. Going 6/1/8, his KP was low, but he has looked crisp as either Aatrox or Renekton. 

Value Pick: Cube (RA: $5,800) Featuring a favorable matchup, Cube is a great value pick if you’re looking to stack up on playmakers in bot or mid lane. He is not going to get you a ton of points, but his value and his potential to not feed in lane against Zoom should make him a more valuable value pick than Chellzi or Zoom. 

 

Favorite: JieJie (EDG: $7,000) He has definitely been a more supportive jungler, but JieJie really knows how to rack up assists without dieing. If you’re looking for the best jungler in today’s slate look no further than JieJie. 

Value Pick: Kanavi (JDG: $6,600) If you are looking for the ultimate upside than Kanavi is your man. Kanavi has performed well against Leyan in the jungle historically giving him massive upside as a cheaper alternative to JieJie. 

 

Favorite: Scout (EDG: $7,600) Scout torched LGD with a 12/3/12 slash line. Playing Viktor and Zoe, Scout looked extremely comfortable as a damage dealer without offering the enemy team many kill opportunities. With a favorable matchup against a poor opponent, Scout is a must start at the midd lane. 

Value Pick: FoFo (RA: $7,200) FoFo is an extremely talented mid laner that torched Suning with 12 kills in the team’s first ever win as a brand. He has a lot of good value and possesses a garet matchup against Yagao, but he would be better served as a showdown pickup.

 

Favorite: Loken (JDG: $7,600) Since you are playing Viper at Captain, Loken is the best option at ADC. He is not a star like FoFo, but he definitely has upside as a solid ADC into a good matchup. 

Value Pick: iBoy (RA: $7,200) He played well with a 6/2/13 stat line against SN as Xayah, but his other picks earlier in the season have been less than inspiring. His value lies in his price and a potential even matchup against a solid but not star player in Loken. 

 

Favorite: Meiko (EDG: $5,800) Meiko picked up the team’s second highest KP with 21 assists during the team’s sweep of LGD. Playing tanks like Maokai, Meiko proved to be an effective engage support that had a big impact on teamfights and during the laning phase. 

Value Pick: LvMao (JDG: $5,400) Mao’s value lies in his high KP and strong play as an engage support. He is very aggressive, but his price means you can find better value in playmakers elsewhere. 

 

Favorite: Edward Gaming (EDG: $5,600) Heavily favored to win against TT, EDG is the clear pick for a team if you value the position. EDG will put up a lot of fantasy points, but will cost you elsewhere. 

Value Pick: JD Gaming (JDG: $5,000) JD are only slight favorites against Rare Atom, but they are a great value pick for their price and potential to go three games. Look to pick up JD if you want to place value elsewhere, but still win a back n forth three game series.
