Bilibili Gaming v EDward Gaming

TOP Esports v LNG Esports

With two upsets on Monday, we look at EDG playing against the wild card BLG as a possible upset for Tuesday. LNG is looking to hold off the reigning LPL champions in TOP Esports in their quest to make the playoff cut. There are sure to be some fireworks on this slate with big names like JackeyLove, icon, Flandre, and Meteor there are plenty of players for you to pick but let’s take a loot and see which ones could help put you over the top.

Game #1 Bilibili Gaming v EDward Gaming

Cann’s Pick: EDward Gaming

Game #2: TOP Esports v LNG Esports

Cann’s Pick: TOP Esports

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Captain

Favorite: Viper (EDG: $11,400) This is your kill leader coming into this slate. Viper has 90 kills through 16 games and a KDA of 5.8 (also highest on the slate). Viper fits so well into EDG’s playstyle with team focused play that is centered around gaining incremental advantages and rolling them into devastating teamfighting. This will be a challenging match against a very unpredictable team but Viper has the ability to stay safe while outputting serious damage.

Value Pick: Meteor (BLG: $9,900) Due to Bilibili Gaming going up against the best team in the league in EDG so members of BLG are super cheap. While the carry jungler meta is not as strong as it was, Meteor is still one of the strongest individual players in the LPL. He has the 4th most kills on the slate (67) and an impressive kill share percentage of almost 25%. I think  most people see this series as a probable 2-0 for EDG but there is a real chance for BLG to push EDG to the limit if they can make this a messy match.

Top Lane

Favorite: 369 (TES: $6,200) 369 has done a pretty good job adapting to the Gnar/Camille top lane meta. At the beginning of the Spring Split he was a bit outclassed with true carry top lane picks but as the league has transitioned to more team focused play, 369 has increased his performance. He is a lane manager and doesn’t look to make too many plays on his own but his wave control and ability to show up in fights is important. He only has a 45% team kill participation but has 32 kills and averages gold leads in the early game. Into LNG, I expect 369 to hold his own and work around the needs of Knight and JackeyLove to find wins.

Value Pick: Biubiu (BLG: $6,000) This is the playmaker on the slate and his matchup with Flandre will be explosive. Biubiu is a volatile player with 60+ kills but also over 80 deaths. He generates pressure in the side lane and absorbs that pressure well. With EDG’s focus on getting Viper ahead, Biubiu could really have this top lane to himself.

Jungle

Favorite: JieJie (EDG: $7,200) JieJie does such a masterful job playing the map. He has a 5.3 KDA and is team focused. He will have his work cut out for him going up against Meteor who is a kill machine (67) but falls behind in gold (-70) and experience (-131) in the early game. JeiJei plays for his team and will get his cut of kill participation this match if he can limit the impact of Meteor.

Value Pick: Tarzan (LNG: $6,400) With the flashier players on the slate it is easier to sleep on Tarzan here. He has a 4.4 KDA and a 69.7% team kill participation. He is beating Karsa from TES in almost every measurable metric (Kills: 41-39, Deaths: 30-36, Assists: 90-83). LNG has also just performed better as a team overall through the first half and while some of that success has been a bit inflated, TES has also dropped games they shouldn’t have. This will be a strong test for LNG.

Mid Lane

Favorite: Knight (TES: $7,600) This pick is solid less for the raw kill numbers he will put down (he has 50 through 13 games) but he is very safe with only 8 deaths over the last 8 games. His lane opponent (icon) is a decent laner but isn’t a threat to put him behind in the laning phase which has been his biggest weakness this season. TES can outpace LNG and use their better mechanical skill to out fight LNG in the late game.

Value Pick: Zeka (BLG: $7,000) Zeka may go into some League of Legends training manual in the future for “How to play for your teammates” in the future. With all the technical skill in the world he is selfless and works to get Meteor and Aiming ahead. He has second most assists (143) and has great survivability with only being 12.4% of BLG’s team deaths. If EDG does not get him off a comfort pick of TF or Galio, Zeka will move around the map and cause issues for them.

ADC

Favorite: JackeyLove (TES: $7,800) While JackeyLove is having more of a down year, he has been making a difference in the past few matches with 53 kills over his last 8 games. TES is a teamfighting team and less of a team to win in the laning phase and the early skirmishes usually focus around funneling gold and kills onto JackeyLove who has a team kill percentage of 36.9%. Great pickup in a series that could go the distance.

Value Pick: Aiming (BLG: $7,000) Aiming is the fifth most lethal bot laner with 82 total kills. This is a full risk pick. He has 59.8% kill participation and 50 deaths in his 21 games this split meaning not only is he death prone, he is also not the focus of the early game. When BLG get to the late game, he takes over but BLG will actually need to get to the late game for this pick to pay dividends. It should have relatively low ownership so this will pay off more in GPP lobbies.

Support

Favorite: Meiko (EDG: $5,800) In Tuesday’s games Meiko has the most assists (149), second highest KDA (4.1) and is a participant in almost a third of all of EDG’s first blood kills. Meiko needs to be on his game with Meteor in the game but his ability to peel for Viper is truly on another level and a big reason why they are undefeated and only dropped 2 matches across all of their matches.

Value Pick: Iwandy ($5,200) This is a cost pick. You save $400 and there onlyan 8 point FPPG difference between Iwandy and TES’ Zhuo. Iwandy has more assists (128 to 122) and has a better KDA (4.1 to 3.9). There isn’t much of a difference between the two supports and both bot laners will get their opportunities to pick up kills so it may be better to just save the cash.

Team

Favorite: EDward Gaming ($5,400) There is no team in the LPL with a better mid to late game rating than EDG. They average an over 700 gold lead at 10 minutes and take 62% of all dragons in their games. They focus on towers and dragons most which will rack you up serious points in your lobbies. Worth the cost and they are heavy favorites in this match.

Value Pick: LNG Esports ($4,400) This is my upset pick. While I think TES will run most of the table in the second half, there is a real chance they drop at least one game (if not the whole match. For this pick to work, LNG has  to get into the late game. TOP Esports is one of the worst ranked mid to late game rated teams (-21.2) and will need to take advantage of icon and Meteor putting knight behind early. Most of LNG will be low ownership im guessing
