Top Guards

Myles Powell - Seton Hall ($8,600 DK / $7,900 FD)

Any time Seton Hall is on the DFS CBB slate, the guard position is headlined by Myles Powell - who is a legit threat to score 25-30 real points on his own in any given matchup. Powell’s DFS ceiling of 40-50 DK points is definitely on the table tonight for a few different reasons. For starters, the senior shooting guard owns a 32% usage rate and 37% shots share during conference play - marks that lead the team by far and are the second-most among all Big East players. Secondly, Seton Hall may be without starting point guard Quincy McKnight tonight - which would result in a lot more ball-handling duties for Powell and would give him more scoring and assisting upside. And lastly, he’s the best player in one of the slate’s highest over/unders as both Georgetown and Seton Hall play at quick tempos. Powell had 32.5 DK points against Georgetown earlier this season and he can easily get to that number once again tonight. Before a dud outing against Xavier on Saturday, Powell had scored 23 or more actual points in six of the previous eight games while routinely putting up 35-45 DK points. No other guard on this slate can match Powell’s DFS ceiling tonight and he should be pretty popular in all formats.

Anthony Edwards - Georgia ($7,900 DK / $7,100 FD)

It’s been tough to roster Anthony Edwards during SEC play lately because he simply hasn’t consistently paid off his high DFS salaries. Over the last two games, though, we’ve seen Edwards take a significant step forward in terms of real-life production and DFS value. The freshman had 48 and 59 DK points against Missouri and Texas A&M the past two outings, respectively, and was much more as a shooter and rebounder in both. In these games, Edwards averaged 26 points scored, 12.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, two steals and one block - and he had 20+ shot attempts and a 20-point double-double in both. This type of production is honestly something we haven’t seen from Edwards since he was facing non-conference opponents in the beginning of the season. It’s clear the Georgia offense has started to revolve around his playmaking, and Edwards himself seems to have taken on a bigger role whether the coaching staff planned it or not. During SEC action, Edwards’ 36% shots share and 31% usage rate are first and second in the conference, respectively, and this high usage will always allow him to return value if he’s making his shots. Limit your exposure to tournaments, but he could be very much worth it if he’s putting up 45-50 DK points once again.

Jahvon Blair - Georgetown ($5,000 DK / $4,100 FD)

Georgetown’s best guard, Mac McClung, is not expected to play tonight as he deals with a foot injury that he suffered on Saturday and sidelined him for Sunday’s game. With McClung out last game, it was Jahvon Blair who saw the biggest bump in usage and playing time among all Hoyas and he presents a very good value on both sites tonight. On Sunday, Blair entered the starting rotation for just the second time all season and he led the team in scoring (23 points) and shot attempts (19) while playing 40 minutes with a 23% usage rate. He ended up with a whopping 38 DK points with the extended minutes and offensive role - and we should expect this production to continue in a fast-paced game vs. Seton Hall. In Blair’s other start this year - also in McClung’s place - he had 25 DK points on 14 shot attempts. The scoring is definitely a plus, but we can almost certainly lock Blair in for 30-40 minutes once again because Georgetown has a very short bench - and that guaranteed playing time will keep Blair’s DFS floor fairly high enough to return value in all formats.

Isaiah Wong - Miami FL ($4,200 DK / $4,200 FD)

Miami’s freshman guard has been a very good value play over the last few games as he’s seen a big increase in offensive role and playing time with the Hurricanes dealing with a couple key injuries. Miami’s two starting guards, Chris Lykes and Kameron McGusty, are both questionable to play tonight as they’ve missed parts or all of the last three games - and Wong is the biggest beneficiary of these absences. Wong has now started the last three games and scored in double-figures in each outing - while putting up 28, 15 and 21 DK points, respectively. We’ll have to make sure that Lykes and/or McGusty are out again tonight, but Wong has been getting a ton of shot attempts and offensive usage while his teammates are out. He’d be one of the best value plays tonight again at his very affordable price tags.

Anthony Nelson - Seton Hall ($4,000 DK / $3,700 FD)

One of the big injury situations to monitor tonight involves Seton Hall’s backcourt - and it could make Anthony Nelson a massive value. The Pirates’ starting point guard, Quincy McKnight, is a game-time decision after he suffered a knee injury on Saturday and hasn’t practiced this week. If McKnight is out - which seems likely because the injury looked pretty bad despite an MRI coming back clean - then Nelson would probably step into the starting rotation and play a key role alongside Myles Powell. The sophomore started two games earlier this season when Powell was out and he played 36 minutes and scored in double figures in both outings. If Nelson ends up starting, we can realistically expect him to 4x or 5x his current price tags because he’ll play a lot with how tight Seton Hall’s backcourt rotation is - and this matchup vs. Georgetown will be high-scoring and quick-tempo.

Other Guards to Consider:

  • Tyrese Haliburton - Iowa State ($8,800 DK / $8,500 FD)

  • Denzel Mahoney - Creighton ($5,800 DK / $5,300 FD)

  • Terrell Allen - Georgetown ($5,500 DK / $4,800 FD)

  • Brevin Pritzl - Wisconsin ($4,900 DK / $4,100 FD)

  • Marlon Taylor - LSU ($4,800 DK Only)

  • Tomas Woldetensae - Virginia ($4,300 DK / $4,500 FD)

Top Forwards

Luka Garza - Iowa ($9,600 DK / $8,900 FD)

If you have the salary to pay up for Luka Garza, it’s always a good idea to get some exposure to the Iowa center in all formats. Garza has been a DFS stud all season and his dominant play has put him squarely into All-American and National POY conversations. Over the last 10 games, junior big man is averaging 46 DK points, 25 real points and 10.6 rebounds per game with a number of outings where he’s exceeding those numbers. A road matchup vs. a tough Purdue frontcourt is certainly worrisome tonight, but Garza has already proven he’s basically matchup-proof during Big Ten action. In conference play, his 34% usage rate, 37% shots share and 7.6 fouls drawn per 40 mins are all tops in the Big Ten. The only issue with him is potential foul trouble - which will limit his DFS ceiling. But with his high usage and shot attempts per game, the floor is usually pretty safe for him. He’s obviously worth a lot now, but there is a path to getting him comfortably in rosters with how much value in on tonight’s slate.

Omer Yurtseven - Georgetown ($8,500 DK / $8,000 FD)

Outside of a bust game vs. Xavier in late January, Omer Yurtseven has been a DFS beast lately with an uptick in shot attempts and offensive usage in Georgetown’s offense. In four of the last five games - not taking that Xavier game into account - the Hoyas’ senior center is averaging 17.3 points, 13 rebounds and 42 DK points with a double-double, at least 37 DK points and double-digit shot attempts in each outing. With Mac McClung unlikely to play tonight, Yurtseven should see even more offensive usage and shot attempts in this fast-paced, high-scoring home matchup vs. Seton Hall. When McClung was out on Sunday, Yurtseven had 38 DK points with his 13 points scored, 15 rebounds and four assists. He should also have a big advantage on the boards tonight as Seton Hall is a below-average rebounding team in the Big East.

D.J. Funderburk - NC State ($7,200 DK / $6,300 FD)

We’ve been targeting against Miami’s frontcourt all year and it doesn’t stop tonight with D.J. Funderburk in a very favorable matchup. Miami is one of the worst rebounding teams in the ACC and they’ve allowed opposing big men to have good games in nearly every conference outing. Meanwhile, Funderburk is by far the best rebounder for NC State and he had 19 points, eight rebounds and 32 DK points when he faced Miami earlier this season. The junior center is so important to the Wolfpack because he’s the only reliable big in their rotation and his presence in the frontcourt allows the guard-heavy offense to play well around him. We’ve seen Funderburk put up 28 or more DK points in six of the last ten games - including 34 DK points just a week ago against UNC and his previous dominant effort vs. Miami in mid-January. The price differential on FD makes him a much better play on that site.

Nate Watson - Providence ($5,600 DK / $4,600 FD)

Providence’s center has been an interesting case for DFS CBB this season. Going back to last year, Nate Watson was a very good play for the Friars once he entered the starting rotation in Big East play and started the final 20 games of the season. This year, however, the junior got off to a slow start after coming off the bench and seeing inconsistent playing time following an injury that sidelined him for the first four games. Watson, though, has now started the past four games and he just put up 33 DK points vs. Villanova a week ago when he had 18 points scored and nine rebounds in 33 minutes. Those were season-high numbers for him this year and the potential is there for him to return to that level of production in a favorable matchup tonight. Creighton is one of the worst rebounding teams in the Big East and Watson is the best offensive rebounder in the conference, according to KenPom. Plus, he is second on the team in terms of usage rate and shots share during conference play - the only issue is his inconsistent minutes as foul trouble is a risk. The path to success is there for him tonight, though, and he’s a worth a flier in tournaments - especially at a cheaper price on FD.

Tyler Wahl - Wisconsin ($4,000 DK / $3,700 FD)

Wahl is a solid value play on both sites tonight as he’s getting much more playing time with Kobe King’s recent departure from the program. Wahl has started the last two games in King’s place and he’s put up 13 and 15 DK points, respectively. The freshman doesn’t offer much offensive upside in Wisconsin’s rotation, but he’s been producing in all stat categories to keep his DFS value just high enough at these cheap price tags. His rebounding ability will definitely be needed tonight against Minnesota’s dominant center, Daniel Oturu - who could cause the Badgers’ Nate Reuvers into foul trouble, forcing Wahl to play more than usual. Still, if we can pencil in Wahl for 3x or 4x value as a salary-saver on this slate - it will ultimately be worth it if it means you can roster one more stud.

Lance Thomas - Memphis ($4,000 FD Only)

If you’re playing on FanDuel tonight, Lance Thomas is one value play you can basically lock in because he’s frankly not priced appropriately. The sophomore has started the past two games and put up 26 and 28 FD points, respectively, while averaging 17 points scored and four rebounds in extended playing time. Memphis has needed someone to consistently stretch the floor for Precious Achiuwa down low - and Thomas is providing just that as he’s gone 6-for-10 from three-point range over these last two games. Thomas would continue to start anyway, but he’s now a lot more important with D.J. Jeffries out for the next 4-6 weeks. He presents a very nice salary-saver on FD’s slate and should probably be priced above 5k at this point.

Other Forwards to Consider:

  • Gabe Osabuohien - West Virginia ($4,900 DK / $5,100 FD)
