Top Guards

Anthony Edwards - Georgia ($8,500)

Even on a slate with a ton of players in the 8k range, Anthony Edwards is still one of the best options in the expensive end because of his pure talent and current role for Georgia. The true freshman will likely be a Top 5 NBA Draft pick this summer, and he’s been living up to expectations this season for the Bulldogs. Edwards’ 31% usage rate and 35% shots share both lead the team by a big margin and are among the best in the entire country (top 40 and top 20, respectively). We rarely see those high percentages for players on major college basketball programs, and it’s impressive Edwards has been able to maintain the high usage through 11 games so far. His big involvement on offense has helped him average 31 DK points per game but his DFS ceiling is usually much higher than that, like when he put up 62 DK points vs. Michigan State earlier this year.

Antoine Davis - Detroit ($7,600)

Usually we want to stay away from players on mid-major teams projected to lose by double-digits, but Davis is a different story. The sophomore point guard is very heavily involved in Detroit’s offense as the do-it-all point guard. Davis’ 39% usage rate and 40% shots share are both top five marks in the whole country and his 39% assist rate is 17th-best in college basketball. He’s literally doing everything for Detroit, and he can return or exceed value on this slate even if his team loses by 30 (like they are projected to against Gonzaga). Davis is averaging 39 DK points this season and he’s put up less than 37 DK points just twice in the past nine games, and he went for 34 and 31 DK points in those games. He’s averaging 25 points per game and he’s been able to produce in DFS even when his team gets blown out. This makes him relatively safe despite going against the top-ranked Zags.

Myles Powell ($8,200) & Quincy McKnight ($6,500) - Seton Hall

Here’s one of the big injury situations on tonight’s slate. Myles Powell has missed the last two games with a concussion, and there’s a chance he could return to the court tonight. The senior traveled with the team to DePaul, and will be game-time decision as to whether or not he suits up. If he plays, we should be strongly considering him for DFS in all formats. Powell’s 36% usage rate is the sixth-best in the country and his 41% shot share is second among all college basketball players. The guy was basically the whole Seton Hall offense before his concussion and he’ll probably return to that role once he’s active again. If Powell is out, though, Quincy McKnight is a big value as he’s taken on a much bigger role in the offense over these past two games. McKnight put up 41 and 35 DK points in the two games without Powell, as he became the main ball-handler and scorer for the Pirates. His price tag has risen a little bit, but not enough for what his value is without Powell in the lineup. Definitely check the injury updates ahead of this 8:30 pm ET tip, but be ready to pivot to either Powell or McKnight when he get word on Powell’s status.

Lester Quinones - Memphis ($5,100)

Memphis’ freshman guard finally returned to action on Saturday after missing the previous five games with a broken hand. In his first game back, Quinones played 18 minutes off the bench and provided 23 DK points thanks to his 13 points scored, five rebounds and one block. It remains to be seen when Quinones will once again start for Memphis (he started the first six games before getting hurt), but it was certainly a good sign to see him be so effective in limited playing time in his return. Before the injury, Quinones was a key piece for the Tigers on both ends and he’ll eventually be one of their best players when he’s at full strength. In a likely blowout win vs. Tulane tonight, the coaching staff may opt to bring him off the bench again to ease him back in. However, we just saw what he can do in limited minutes. Interestingly, his price tag decreased by $300 from what he was priced at on Saturday.

Jeremiah Francis - North Carolina ($4,000)

It’s been a DFS guessing game lately as to which UNC player would see the biggest uptick in value with Cole Anthony sidelined for the next few weeks but Francis looks like the guy now. Although the freshman has yet to start for the Tar Heels, he’s been seeing a ton of playing time and usage in Anthony’s absence. Francis didn’t play in the first eight games of the year as he returned from a knee injury, but his minutes have now increased in each of the four games he’s been healthy. He’s now been a main part of UNC’s rotation over the last two games with 20.5 DK points in 23 minutes vs. Gonzaga and 19 DK points in 28 minutes vs. UCLA. The Heels may still bring him off the bench today, but he has the clear advantage for playing time and offensive usage over K.J. Smith and Anthony Harris in this backcourt. Eventually we’ll see Francis’ price tag increase, but let’s jump on his value right now while we still can.

Other Guards to Consider:

  • Charlie Moore - DePaul ($8,400)
  • Joel Ayayi - Gonzaga ($7,500)
  • Amorie Archibald - Louisiana Tech ($5,200)
  • Admon Gilder - Gonzaga ($5,100)
  • Jalen Coleman-Lands - DePaul ($4,900)

Top Forwards

Precious Achiuwa - Memphis ($8,200)

We mention it every time Memphis is on a DFS CBB slate, Precious Achiuwa is a beast for the Tigers and he’s their best player now that James Wiseman is out of the picture. Achiuwa had been a solid role player while Wiseman was still playing, but he’s now the main guy in the offense with his teammate off to the NBA. The freshman big man is averaging 37.7 DK points in the nine games without Wiseman. He is coming off a big outing on Saturday when he went for 45 DK points with a stat-stuffing performance on 18 points scored, 10 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals. He leads Memphis is usage rate and shots share and is by far the best rebounder in the paint. Achiuwa will have a huge rebounding advantage over Tulane’s frontcourt tonight and it’s easy to expect another double-double from him with upside for a lot more, something he’s shown he can do on a consistent basis without Wiseman.

Filip Petrusev - Gonzaga ($7,700)

With Gonzaga projected to score the most points on this slate by a big margin, we definitely want exposure to these players and what better way than looking at their best DFS performer. Petrusev is averaging 32 DK points per game this year and he’s put up at least that much in four straight games. The 6-foot-11 sophomore leads the Zags in usage rate (29%), shots share (27%), combined rebounding rate (33.2%), block rate, and fouls drawn rate. Even when Gonzaga is blowing teams, which is often, Petrusev has been able to be very effective for DFS purposes. That will be the case tonight in what should be an easy win over Detroit. Still, we just saw Petrusev put up 43 DK points against Eastern Washington in the Zags’ last game that ended up being a 35-point win. He’ll have a big size advantage over Detroit’s frontcourt tonight and should easily return value on a price tag that could be in the 8k range at this point.

Jared Rhoden - Seton Hall ($5,600)

Even if Myles Powell plays tonight (which is still a big question mark), Rhoden will continue to have a solid role for Seton Hall. The sophomore has seen a big uptick in playing time, usage and rebounding opportunities since Sandro Mamukelashvili got hurt in early December. With Sandro expected out for another few weeks, Rhoden will remain in the Pirates’ starting rotation moving forward as he’s now started the past three games with his teammate out. Even at 6-foot-6, Rhoden is the best rebounder on the team, and he’s put up at least 26 DK points over the last three games since becoming a starter. Obviously Powell being out has helped him in the scoring department, but Rhoden still gets it done in most other stat categories. He has been especially effective as a rebounder, as he’s grabbed at least eight boards in each of the past three outings with Mamukelashvili out.

Toumani Camara - Georgia ($4,500)

This is one of the biggest mispricings on tonight’s slate and Camara should probably be the highest-owned player because of it. The Georgia freshman has entered the starting lineup with Amanze Ngumenzi transferring away and he’s putting up some big DFS performances with the increase in playing time. Camara has now started the last two games and saw 35 and 32 minutes in those outings. His last game vs. Georgia Southern was the big coming-out party as Camara put up 32 DK points with 16 points scored, seven rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals. In the other start he only put up 17 DK points, but we should expect 20+ from him tonight and that makes him a huge value at this price tag.

Other Forwards to Consider:

  • Jordan Bruner - Yale ($8,300)
  • Armando Bacot - North Carolina ($7,400)
  • Garrison Brooks - North Carolina ($7,200)
  • Corey Kispert - Gonzaga ($6,600)
  • Isaiah Maurice - Memphis ($3,900)
