Top Guards

Anthony Edwards - Georgia ($8,300 DK / $7,400 FD)

On this shorter slate, we want to fit in as many of the studs from Georgia and Dayton as possible, and it all starts with Anthony Edwards as the best player for the Bulldogs. The freshman will likely be a top five pick in next year’s NBA Draft as one of the more exciting players in the country so far. Edwards leads Georgia in usage rate (30%) and shots share (33%), both marks are among the top 60 in the nation, and his ability to stuff the stat sheet routinely gives him a high DFS floor and ceiling every game. He’s averaging 30 DK points this season and has only put less than that in three of 10 games. Frankly, we should expect 35-40 DFS points from him today because Georgia Southern does not have the talent to guard a dynamic playmaker like him, plus this matchup will be a fast-paced one with both teams playing at quick tempos.

Kendric Davis - SMU ($8,100 DK / $7,300 FD)

Since this slate includes two obvious DFS studs in Dayton’s Obi Toppin and Georgia’s Anthony Edwards, it could result in SMU’s best player going overlooked and likely lower-owned overall. However, Kendric Davis deserves to considered right at the top today, and he makes for an excellent GPP play to pivot off the masses that simply go Edwards and Toppin on the high end. After missing the first four games due to eligibility issues, Davis has stepped right into being the playmaking point guard that TCU recruited him to be last year. The sophomore transfer leads the Mustangs in usage rate (24.5%) and shots share (24.7%) and his 41.7% assist rate is the seventh-best in the whole country. Plus, Davis actually rebounds pretty well for being a 5-foot-11 point guard and his high involvement across the board has allowed him to stuff the stat sheet nightly. He’s averaging 15 points, seven assists, 4.7 rebounds and 33.7 DK points per game thus far with only one outing where he put up less than 30 DK points. Again, he shouldn’t be overlooked on this smaller slate and should be considered as a top play right with Edwards and Toppin because of his high floor and ceiling.

New Williams - Fresno State ($5,500 DK Only)

If you’re playing on DraftKings today, there’s one later matchup specific to that site and it’s worth getting some exposure to as the late-game hammer with the 10 pm ET tip. Fresno State’s New Williams presents a very affordable avenue to this game from both sides. The senior shooting guard has started the last four games with Noah Blackwell out, and he should continue to see an expanded role and minutes bump with Blackwell expected to remain out for another couple of weeks. Over these last four games, Williams is averaging 33.8 minutes per game in the starting rotation and has provided no less than 29 DK points each outing. When he’s on the court this season, Williams is actually leading the team in shots share (27%) and is second in usage rate (22.5%). This high involvement on offense keeps his DFS floor relatively comfortable and it’s resulted in some big scoring outbursts, including dropping 20 or more real points in three of the past four games.

Calvin Wishart - Georgia Southern ($5,400 DK / $4,800 FD)

There admittedly aren’t many legit plays to consider from tonight’s underdogs, but Wishart presents an affordable way to a possible value on this smaller slate. Since missing four games earlier this month, the sophomore has comfortably re-joined Georgia Southern’s starting rotation the past three games as the lead point guard. He doesn’t offer much pure scoring upside, but he gives you solid DFS floor because of his role as a distributor in this offense. Wishart leads the team in assist rate (22.6%), and his passing skills will be needed in this matchup vs. Georgia. Plus, this game will be the fastest-paced of tonight’s slate as both teams play quick, so Wishart running the point in this type of back-and-forth game is also very attractive. He’s averaging 22.3 DK points this year and has yet to put up less than 17.5 DK points in eight games. Also, if he gets hot from three-point range there is some GPP upside here as he’s taken six or more three-pointers in six of eight games thus far.

Ibi Watson - Dayton ($4,100 DK / $4,500 FD)

It’s honestly surprising to see Watson still priced so low considering the solid role he’s carved out in Dayton’s rotation. Although he doesn’t start, the junior transfer from Michigan has seemingly locked down the sixth-man role for the Flyers and his offensive value off the bench has been vital to the team’s success so far. Dayton runs a short rotation with starters playing a ton of minutes and Watson being the main go-to bench guy if they need a scoring burst. Even as a reserve, he’s getting solid usage (18.5%) and shots share (21.5%) and is the team’s best three-point shooter, hitting 45% of his 49 deep attempts thus far. That perimeter scoring threat could especially come in handy against a Grambling State defense that doesn’t defend the three well. The only downside to Watson is that his DFS value is heavily dependent on his pure points scoring with little production in rebounds or assists. Still, in what should be an easy win for Dayton, there’s a solid chance he returns value at these price tags.

Other Guards to Consider:

  • Tyson Jolly - SMU ($7,600 DK / $7,000 FD)
  • Jalen Crutcher - Dayton ($7,000 DK / $6,400 FD)
  • Charles Minlend - San Francisco ($6,100 DK Only)
  • Corey Allen - Georgia State ($6,000 DK / $5,800 FD)
  • Sahvir Wheeler - Georgia ($5,100 DK / $5,000 FD)
  • Mustafa Lawrence - Fresno State ($4,900 DK Only)
  • Anthony Holland - Fresno State ($3,900 DK Only)

Top Forwards

Obi Toppin - Dayton ($8,400 DK / $8,000 FD)

Whenever Dayton is in action, Obi Toppin would be an elite play, and he becomes a near-lock on this smaller slate with few elite options. The sophomore wing leads the Flyers in usage rate (26%), shots share (28%) and combined rebounding rate (31%) this season. His high involvement in almost every stat category gives him a very high DFS floor and ceiling as he will consistently produce across the board, attributes that have vaulted Toppin up NBA Draft boards. He’s averaging a very good 37.9 DK points per game this year because of his stat-stuffing ability, and only once in 11 games has he put up less than 30 DK points with four separate outings of 40 or more. Toppin should have no problem being a force on both ends against a below-average Grambling State team that struggles at rebounding and has the worst defense on this slate. Plus, the entire Dayton team gets a pace-boost with Grambling playing at the 49th-fastest tempo overall and allowing opposing teams to play at the 23rd-fastest in the country.

Rayshaun Hammonds - Georgia ($7,800 DK / $7,200 FD)

As with Toppin and the other high-priced players already pointed out above, we need to strongly consider Rayshaun Hammonds in our lineups for all formats with so few elite plays on this smaller slate. The 6-foot-9 big man trails only Anthony Edwards in usage rate (27%) and shots share (29%) in Georgia’s rotation, and both those marks would easily make him the best player on many other teams across the country. Hammonds is also the Bulldogs’ best rebounder with a 36% rebounding rate while averaging nine boards per game this season, including grabbing eight or more rebounds in eight of ten games thus far. Hammonds should have a near-monopoly on rebounds tonight against a Georgia Southern team that doesn’t have much size down low and, frankly, does not rebound well. All year, Hammonds has been able to feast in these easier matchups and it’s realistic to expect a double-double from him tonight with upside for much more.

Isiah Mike - SMU ($7,500 DK / $7,500 FD)

Similar to Kendric Davis above, SMU’s best frontcourt player could be an interesting GPP play because of how many people will flock to the other high-priced players on this shorter slate. Still, Mike has the upside to smash value, just look at his last game when he put up 50.5 DK points thanks to his 25 points scored and 12 boards. The 6-foot-8 junior is second on the team (behind Davis) in usage rate (22.4%) and shots share (23.9%), plus, he is SMU’s best rebounder and three-point shooter. Over the last three games, Mike has especially been on a tear, putting up 30 or more DK points each outing with per-game averages of 17.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.3 steals. And those performances came against tough competition in Georgia, Georgetown and Northwestern. The sky's the limit in this easier matchup vs. lower-tier Georgia State.

Toumani Camara - Georgia ($3,900 DK / $4,100 FD)

This is your best value play of the slate by far and seems like a lock in all formats to make it easier to fit in all the studs. Camara had been a solid bench player all season, but he’s starting to see a big increase in role and playing time with Amanze Ngumezi recently entering the transfer portal. Georgia’s Rodney Howard started the first two games without Ngumezi, but Camara entered the starting lineup last game for the first time all year and he did not disappoint. The 6-foot-8 freshman played 35 minutes vs. SMU in a double-overtime win while Howard was relegated to just ten minutes in reserve. He put up 17 DK points, his third time in four games doing so, and Georgia’s coaching staff clearly favors Camara over Howard in the rotation. Even in the two games Howard started, Camara saw more minutes and usage off the bench. Camara should continue to start and we’ll pay this price all day for a starter on the team projected to score slate’s second-most points.
