Welcome back, college football fans and DFS players alike! How’d you do with your Week 6 DFS CFB lineups? We had a very interesting and exciting slate of football last Saturday with big performances from some offenses and duds from others. It’s time now to look towards the Saturday night slate of games kicking off between 7 pm ET and 8 pm ET.

Before we get into any specific players and pricing, it’s imperative to understand this night slate from a site perspective. DraftKings, per usual, have a 7-game slate with all the major matchups. FanDuel, however, had yet to post a night slate as of Thursday evening and they include only four of these night games on their main slate that lasts all day long.

For the reasons above, this playbook for the Saturday main slate will focus mainly on the night games that appear on DraftKings because of the lack of resources from FanDuel. However, all the night games that are FD’s main slate are covered below so you can make decisions lineup building after reading our main slate coverage as well.

Now, let’s dive into the specific players that are worth rostering in both cash game and tournament lineups for this Week 7 Saturday night slate on DK!

QUARTERBACKS

Joe Burrow - LSU ($8,200 DK)

Some people may stay away from Burrow because of his tougher matchup this week against Florida, but there’s no denying how good the LSU passer has been this year. Burrow has thrown at least four touchdowns in four of five games thus far and has passed for at least 344 yards in each of the last four contests. With the emergence of Burrow, the Tigers offense has become a pass-first attack that will lean on their quarterback in the red zone and all over the field to move the ball. As we said, this matchup against Florida is the toughest he’s faced all year, but Burrow could still return value if he throws for 300+ yards and three scores yet again. Still, limit your exposure to GPP’s because this game could be lower scoring than others on this slate.

Jamie Newman - Wake Forest ($7,800 DK)

We’ve hyped up Newman in recent weeks and he has yet to disappoint us, putting him firmly in play as the top cash quarterback on this night slate. The Wake Forest dual-threat has provided at least 30 DK points in every game thus far because of his unique ability to put up points throwing and running the ball. Newman has thrown for at least 300 yards and three touchdowns in three of five games this season. and in the two games he didn’t, he got it done with his legs. In Week 3, he ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns and then posted 102 rushing yards in last weekend’s win over Boston College. Wake Forest seems pretty content on letting Newman make plays both through the air and on the ground and he should do a lot of both in a favorable matchup against Louisville.

Tyler Huntley - Utah ($7,000 DK)

Although Huntley is the quarterback in a run-heavy offense, which is not an ideal situation for DFS rosters, he also brings a rushing upside that gives him enough value here. First off, though, Huntley gets a favorable matchup against an Oregon State defense that is allowing 230 passing yards and 425.6 total yards per game. He has shown already he can get the job done through the air with matchups in his favor this season, 334 yards and two passing scores last week against Washington State and 282 yards and three touchdowns in an easy Week 3 win. Still, though, we like what Huntley brings with his running ability. With Zack Moss sidelined last game, he ran for two rushing touchdowns and was the main ball-carrier in the red zone. Moss is questionable to play this weekend and could be limited, giving Huntley more touches as a runner down near the goal-line yet again. Plus, Huntley ran for 60 yards against USC in Week 4, has at least 20 rushing yards in every game this season and has three rushing scores on the year. The Utah dual-threat QB seems pretty safe for cash games at this price tag.

Also Consider:

Ian Book - Notre Dame ($7,400 DK)

Kelly Bryant - Missouri ($7,000 DK)

Jake Luton - Oregon State ($6,500 DK)

RUNNING BACKS

Larry Rountree III - Missouri ($6,800 DK)

The running back position on this night slate isn’t as top-heavy as we’ve seen in recent weeks and Rountree comes in as the most expensive option on DraftKings. Still, though, he needs to be in consideration as the top back for a Missouri team favored by two scores and facing an Ole Miss defense that has holes everywhere. Rountree is averaging 5.3 yards per carry this season with a pair of games going over 100 rushing yards and five rushing scores through five games. He saw 16 or more touches through the first four weeks but wasn’t needed much in last week’s blowout win over Troy. Rountree should get back to his regular 15-20 touches and could find the end zone once or twice. Still, he’s a tournament play only because quarterback Kelly Bryant could very easily vulture some goal-line touchdowns away.

Cade Carney - Wake Forest ($5,500 DK)

Carney opened the season as the Demon Deacons’ lead back and he impressed from the get-go with 105 rushing yards on 25 carries in Week 1. Although an injury forced the senior to miss a few games lately, he’s back to getting a full workload in this backfield, as evidenced by his 24 carries against Boston College in the last game. While he only mustered 58 rushing yards in that contest, he did find the end zone and it’s encouraging to see Carney get that many touches despite his recent injury. Wake Forest was on a bye last week which should help Carney get more rest and be ready for a full allotment of carries this time around against a Louisville defense that’s allowing 160.4 rushing yards per game. Plus, he’s the lead back for the offense projected to score the most points on this night slate, making him a nice cash bargain.

Javian Hawkins - Louisville ($5,200 DK)

We suggested Hawkins last week and he rewarded us with 172 rushing yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. That performance came against a porous Boston College rush defense, but Hawkins gets another favorable matchup this Saturday with a Wake Forest unit that’s allowing 147.6 rushing yards per game. This game is projected to be the highest-scoring of this night slate and Hawkins, as Louisville’s lead back, should see a ton of touches again. He now has over 100 rushing yards in three of six games this year and is averaging 6.2 yards per carry. On DraftKings, this price tag is still a very nice bargain for a guy who smashed value at only $200 cheaper.

Jafar Armstrong - Notre Dame ($4,500 DK)

This was supposed to be a breakout year for Armstrong as Notre Dame’s lead running back, but he suffered an abdominal injury on the opening drive of the season and has yet to play since. However, the junior is slated to return this weekend and head coach Brian Kelly said Armstrong will hopefully get around 20 plays against USC. Even in limited action, he could still smash value here if he takes one of those touches to the house, a legitimate possibility for a guy who averaged 5.3 yards per carry and scored seven touchdowns as a change-of-pace back last season. Tony Jones Jr. has been Notre Dame’s lead back in Armstrong’s absence but he clearly lacks the game-breaking ability that his teammate possesses. Limit your exposure to GPP’s only but it’s certainly in the cards that Armstrong becomes one of the best value plays at RB this weekend.

Also Consider:

Zack Moss - Utah ($6,700 DK)

Rodney Smith - Minnesota ($5,800 DK)

Artavis Pierce - Oregon State ($5,800 DK)

WIDE RECEIVERS

Isaiah Hodgins - Oregon State ($7,700 DK)

Take one look at Hodgins’ game log this season and you’ll know why he’s the most expensive wide receiver on this night slate. He has 10 receptions in each of the last two games with at least seven catches in every game this year. Plus, he’s scored at least one touchdown in every week with nine total receiving scores through five games. Hodgins’ fantasy floor remains very high because of his dominant target share in Oregon State’s offense, and he should be heavily involved once again this week. Utah has a suffocating rush defense which will force the Beavers to the air even more, giving Hodgins a good chance at another high reception game with at least a touchdown likely coming as well.

Wake Forest WRs

If you’re playing Jamie Newman, you’ll likely want to pair him with one of his wideouts and there are two very attractive options here. Sage Surratt ($7,300 DK) is the top receiver as he’s caught a touchdown in every game this season, and has three games so far when he totaled at least seven receptions and 112 receiving yards. Scotty Washington ($6,400 DK) is no slouch either though, with six touchdowns on the year and a pair of massive games where he put up at least seven receptions, 140 yards and two scores in both. Obviously you can save on Washington as the cheaper option of the two, but Surratt is the more talented receiver with a higher DFS floor because of his consistent receptions week-to-week. Both are really good pairing choice with Newman though, and you could build lineups with all three if you’re feeling frisky.

Wan’Dale Robinson - Nebraska ($5,600 DK)

Although he’s listed at wide receiver on DraftKings, Robinson brings more rushing upside to this position group than your normal wideout. He broke out in Week 3 with 19 carries for 89 yards and a touchdown while also adding eight catches for 79 yards. Robinson has followed up that performance with nine carries in Week 5 and seven rushes with a score in Week 6. He’s being used more as a rusher in this Nebraska offense with Maurice Washington being phased out, and he also still brings a pass-catching ability as he had seven grabs for 123 receiving yards last week. Dedrick Mills, the Cornhuskers’ other running back, hasn’t been too reliable on the ground with Washington losing touches, and Robinson instead has seen his role increase massively over the last three games.

Kyle Pitts - Florida ($4,900 DK)

Although he’s a tight end in this Florida offense, Pitts has the Gators’ most consistent receiving option since Kyle Trask took over at quarterback. Pitts has at least four catches in each of the last four games and broke out for eight receptions for 65 yards last weekend against Auburn. He won’t stretch the field but instead will rack up short yardage catches, a crucial benefit in DK’s PPR format. Trask looked towards the sure thing in Pitts more often in a close game against Auburn last week, and he’ll likely do the same against LSU’s tough defense this time around. His floor remains relatively high with how many catches he gets week-to-week and has the upside to score a touchdown in this matchup as he has three on the year so far.

Derrick Dillon - LSU ($4,200 DK)

We weren’t sure which LSU receiver would receive more targets in the absence of Terrace Mitchell Jr. last week, but we got our answer in the form of Dillon. The senior had four catches for 42 yards and a touchdown and finished third on the team in receiving yards and receptions. He should be the number three wideout again this week with Marshall doubtful for Saturday following a surgery for a stress fracture in his foot. Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase are the clear top receiving options for quarterback Joe Burrow, but if Dillon provides a stat line similar to his Week 6 output, he’s a definite value at this price tag. Limit your exposure to Dillon in GPP’s, though, because the matchup is a tougher one this week against Florida’s vaunted defense.
