How’s your bracket looking after the first three days of the NCAA Tournament? Did UC Irvine or Oregon’s upsets do you in? Well, that’s why we have DFS CBB to play as March Madness rolls along! The Round of 32 continues on Sunday with eight games on the docket.

DraftKings and FanDuel both have all eight games on their slates with the first matchup between Iowa and Tennessee tipping at 12:10 pm ET. Take note that your FanDuel lineup will lock at that time, while DK allows for late-swap throughout the day.

Whether you’re a regular or a newbie to these DFS CBB Playbooks, we will be doing things a bit differently for the NCAA Tournament in regards to the setup of teams to target. Instead of suggesting games overall, we will point out the teams on this slate who are projected to score the most (and least) amount points of all 16 teams in action (according to KenPom). As always, though, we’ll outline the top cash and GPP plays to lock into your lineups for the slate.

If you have any questions or comments about CBB DFS strategy or college basketball in general, feel free to hit up my Twitter @dan_servodidio. Good luck!

Guards

Jarrett Culver - TTU ($9,200 DK / $8,700 FD)

This Buffalo-Texas Tech matchup is as close to must-see TV as we’ll get in the second round. Tech owns the top-ranked defense in the country while Buffalo’s offense runs at the 3rd-fastest pace and ranks 19th in efficiency in college basketball, per KenPom’s ratings. Leading the way on both sides will be Jarrett Culver, who’s taken his game to another level late in the regular season and it’s carried into postseason play. The sophomore point-forward is averaging 43 DK points over his last eight games and has now put up back-to-back performances of at least 54 DK points - including an impressive stat line in Tech’s first-round win over Northern Kentucky. In Friday’s win, Culver nearly recorded a triple-double with 29 points scored, seven assists, eight rebounds, a block and a steal for 54.5 DK points. Sunday’s matchup with Buffalo should raise Culver’s fantasy ceiling even higher as it’s a pace-up game for Texas Tech, who normally plays at slower tempos. Culver may be the safest cash game play on this slate as the expensive Duke players (Williamson and Barrett) contain a bit of risk to return value at their prices.

Jeremy Harris - BUF ($8,000 DK / $7,500 FD)

People may stay away from the Buffalo players on Sunday’s slate because of the lower-than-normal expected point total and tough matchup vs. Texas Tech’s top-ranked defense, but Jeremy Harris could be an elite GPP play with potential low ownership. The senior has been a beast offensively for Buffalo to end the regular season and he’s carried that production throughout the MAC tournament and now into the NCAA Tournament. Harris put up 21 points scored, 10 rebounds, four assists and 44.5 DK points in the first-round victory over Arizona State - and he’s now averaging 38.3 DK points over the last six games, including at least 43 DK points in three of the last four outings. Again, Harris remains a GPP play because of the tough matchup and an increase in salary, but he can still get you 35-40 DK points as one of two primary scorers for the high-flying Buffalo offense.

Lovell Cabbil - LIB ($5,900 DK / $6,100 FD)

Virginia Tech’s zone defense allows 42% of opposing points to the three-pointer (the 2nd-highest mark in the country) - if Liberty wants to pull off a second-straight upset on Sunday, it’ll have to rely on its perimeter scoring. Cabbil was the Flames’ best three-point shooter during conference play (48%) and he helped anchor the first-round win over Mississippi State with three made trey’s, 18 points scored, five assists, two steals and 33 DK points. Scottie James and Caleb Homesley are the main men for Liberty on offense, but they could struggle against Tech’s elite zone defense that forces scoring to the outside. Cabbil and point guard Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz ($4,300 DK / $4,300 FD) will likely need to do more offensively for any chance of an upset in this matchup.

Robert Cartwright - UCIR ($4,800 DK / $4,800 FD)

Although UC Irvine is projected to be one of the lowest-scoring teams on Sunday’s slate, Cartwright could be a nice source of value in one of your guard positions. The senior point guard has now started the past six games for the Anteaters while regular starter Eyassu Worku works his way back from a leg injury. Worku did return for UC Irvine’s first-round upset over Kansas State, but he only played nine minutes and mostly took a backseat to Cartwright when the game was on the line. Cartwright, meanwhile, looked fantastic running the offense on Friday as he put up 20+ DK points with 10 points scored on 11 shot attempts, three assists, three rebounds and a steal. It was his third straight game with at least 20 DK points - and the fifth in the past seven outings. Despite Worku back in the lineup, UC Irvine may continue to roll out Cartwright as the lead point guard vs. Oregon considering he’s now helped lead the team to a Big West tournament win and an upset in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. There is a slight chance Worku steals some playing time from Cartwright, though, so limit your exposure to GPP lineups.

Other Guards to Consider:

Cameron Johnson - UNC ($8,200 DK / $8,300 FD)

Caleb Homesley - LIB ($6,900 DK / $7,000 FD)

Matt Mooney - TTU ($6,100 DK / $6,600 FD)

Jordan Bowden - TENN ($5,300 DK / $5,100 FD)

Musa Jallow - OSU ($3,500 DK / $3,500 FD)

Forwards

Kristian Doolittle - OU ($7,100 DK / $7,900 FD)

If you rostered Doolittle on Friday, you likely easily cashed out as the Oklahoma post-player put up a slate-breaking 50.8 DK points with 19 points scored and 15 rebounds. This breakout performance should come as no surprise, though, as Doolittle’s slowly become the focal point of the Sooners’ offense and he’s now averaging 34 DK points over his last ten games with at least 40 DK points in three of the past four outings. We could see a similar performance from the junior on Sunday against Virginia because the Hokies’ defense is the nation’s best at defending the three-pointer and tends to funnel scoring into the post - an area where they’re vulnerable to opposing big men.

Tacko Fall - UCF ($6,700 DK / $7,600 FD)

If you didn’t know about Tacko Fall before Central Florida’s first-round victory over VCU, you likely know the name now. The 310-pound, 7’6” center was dominant on Friday when he put up 46 DK points with 13 points scored, 18 rebounds and five blocks in 28 minutes. In Sunday’s matchup with Duke, UCF will definitely lean on Fall’s size and rim-protecting ability against Zion Williamson and Co. The senior is now averaging 30.8 DK points, 13.4 points, 9.4 boards and 2.4 blocks per outing in his last ten games. There is a small risk that Fall gets in foul trouble trying to defend the paint against Zion, but he will be handful for Duke’s defenders on the other end as well. He draws fouls and crashes the offensive glass at an elite rate and the Blue Devils will have trouble matching up with him as they’ll likely use a combination of Javin DeLaurier and Marques Bolden - and Fall has at least six inches on both of them.

Joe Wieskamp - IOWA ($5,600 DK / $5,800 FD)

Although Iowa is the clear underdog against Tennessee on Sunday, the way the Hawkeyes could pull off an upset is through the three-pointer - and Wieskamp is their best deep-ball shooter. Tennessee’s defense has elite size and length in the paint which forces teams to the the perimeter for their scoring - the Vols allow 35% of opposing points via the three-pointer, the 58th-highest mark in all of college basketball this season. On Friday, Tennessee was nearly upset by 15-seed Colgate when the Raiders went 15-for-29 from three-point range (51.7%). Meanwhile, Wieskamp was Iowa’s best three-point shooter during the season (43%) and he drained 4-of-6 from deep and put up 31+ DK points in the Hawkeyes’ first-round upset victory over Cincinnati. If Iowa is to advance to the Sweet 16, it’ll have to do so behind the freshman’s perimeter scoring ability.

Mamadi Diakite - UVA ($4,500 DK / $4,800 FD)

The Virginia junior has played sparingly off the bench lately, but he exploded on Friday for 17 points scored, nine rebounds and 27+ DK points in 27 minutes - his most playing time in a month. Yes, that performance came against 16-seed Gardner-Webb - but the Hokies will need Diakite’s size in the paint on Sunday to contain Oklahoma stud Kristian Doolittle. When Diakite gets about 20-30 minutes of playing time, we’ve seen his offensive usage and DFS production increase a ton. With those extended minutes - like he could see against the Sooners - he’s put up at least 22 DK points five different times in his past ten games. Doolittle is an athletic post player who requires a certain level of athleticism from opposing forwards trying to guard him. Diakite has that going for him while Virginia’s other forwards (Jack Salt and Jay Huff) could get eaten alive in this type of matchup.
