Welcome to the fantasy hockey waiver wire report! As usual, every week, the weekly waiver wire report will help you target some players that you should be adding, or monitoring, on the waiver wire. You’ll want to check back through the week to see if players are added. The fantasy hockey season is a long one, but staying on top of the waiver wire will most certainly help keep your team competitive. Let’s see who we should be targeting this week.

Max Comtois - Anaheim Ducks - Winger

The Duck’s winger is off to a pretty impressive start with three goals in two games. He only has four shots on goal, so let’s not expect him to maintain his crazy 75% shooting percentage. He’s 4% owned on Yahoo!, but if you’re in a very deep league, nothing wrong with adding Comtois and riding the wave until he cools down.

Kevin Hayes - Philadelphia Flyers - Centre

With the news that Sean Couturier will be out at least two weeks with a costochondral separation (google it if you aren’t sure what that means), Kevin Hayes is expected to take over the top line duties, and he’s only 34% owned on Yahoo!, which is already low before the injury. The veteran forward can score goals, and he should be on your fantasy roster for the foreseeable future.

Conor Garland - Arizona Coyotes - Winger

Conor Garland could have a big season in Arizona, so seeing him at 21% owned is a gift to fantasy owners who are looking for some scoring depth. The Coyotes are going to struggle to score goals, but the former fifth round pick in 2015 has three points in his first two games, and is seeing time on the top line. Volume is key in fantasy hockey, and Garland is seeing some serious volume. He’s worth the risk if you need some depth.

Alexander Romanov - Montreal Canadiens - Defence

I didn’t expect Alexander Romanov to be this good, this quickly. The rookie defenceman has one assist, six shots on goals, and six blocked shots in his first two games. If you’re in a league that counts hits and blocks, the 21-year-old is worth considering. Head coach Claude Julien seems to like the kid, enough to give him second power play minutes. He’s going to have his ups and downs, but right now, he’s widely available in most leagues and is a solid add in most 14-team leagues.

Cam Talbot - Minnesota Wild - Goalie

Seeing Cam Talbot being only 51% owned in Yahoo! leagues is kind of shocking. The veteran goaltender has no one to challenge him for the starting job, and the West Division isn’t exactly that difficult, meaning he could have himself a pretty solid season. He already has two wins on the season, and he’s an early candidate to finish with 20-plus before it’s all said and done. The Wild are going to struggle to score goals, but their defence is good enough to help Talbot be a top-15 goalie in fantasy hockey. If he’s available, he should be added to your team.
