Happy Sunday NHL DFS fans! A short three game slate awaits us tonight, so let’s dive right into each matchup and breakdown who we should be targeting when building our lineups.

STL @ CHI

Both teams played Saturday night,so there’s no one team that has the “rested” advantage. This game could end up being a high scoring affaire, so you’ll want some exposure to STL in this one.

The Blackhawks lost 5-3 to the Sabres yesterday, the Sabres! The Blues are the team that most people should be targeting on this slate, and for good reason.

It’s going to be important to monitor if Vladimir Tarasenko plays tonight. He left yesterday’s game early with an upper-body injury, but it doesn’t appear to be serious. Assuming that he is in the lineup, He’s a nice option to consider, along with his linemates Brayden Schenn and Jaden Schwartz. You could use all three in a GPP, or mini-stack Schenn/Tarasenko.

??Note: Tarasenko is out tonight!

On defence, Alex Pietrangelo had a two-goal performance last night, so let’s hope he can replicate that effort tonight. His price tag is better on FanDuel, so that’s the spot to use him. If you don’t want to pay up for Pietrangelo, Vince Dunn is a nice salary relief option. He’s seeing some PP2 minutes, so the exposure is still there. His $3100 price tag on DraftKings is also very appealing.

In goal, There’s a good chance that Ville Husso get the start for St.Louis today, and that’s a good thing. The 23-year-old has a chance here to play his first NHL game and pick up his first NHL win. He’s only available on DraftKings, but he’s certainly a GPP play and it wouldn’t be crazy to use him in cash games.

??Note: Jake Allen is confirmed to start

If for some reason Jake Allen gets the start here, I’ll have some exposure to Chicago’s top line. Patrick Kane is still under $7000 on DraftKings, and Jonathan Toews is a steal on either site. The Chicago ownership will be up there, but St. Louis remains the team to target.

DAL @ @WPG

Right now, the Dallas Stars are a team to pick on in DFS. They barely showed up against Montreal earlier in the week, Toronto came out and scored six goals against them the net night, and they couldn’t find a way to score goals against Ottawa. So far, their east coast swing has been #NotGood.

Tonight they are in Winnipeg to take on the Jets, a team that can score goals in bunches. IT doesn’t matter which goalie gets the nod for the Stars, they are going to give up a lot of goals. WPG currently has a 3.4 team total, the highest total of any team on this slate. You’ll want some exposure to this game.

I’m going to take a very different route today, one that many people aren’t going to like. Go right ahead and mini-stack Laine/Wheeler in cash games. Why? There are lots of great C options tonight and I don’t see the need to be paying for Little or Stastny. Both centremen don’t take many shots and rely on their wingers to score goals to pick up points. So, why not go with the scoring wingers? Stastny isn’t a bad play, so if you want to roster him, you can. I’m going with this high power winger stack.

Since im spending up on the winger position, i’ll have to spend down elsewhere. Tyler Myers is seeing second unit PP minutes, so he’s a nice option to consider in either format. His price is really nice on FD, so that would be the spot to use him. Dustin Byfuglien has a $5300 price tag on DK, so i’d be fine using him there. It’s going to be a challenge to fit all three of those players into one lineup, but if you can do it, you probably won’t regret it.

As for Dallas, There’s really nothing to like outside of the top line. You can use the top line in a GPP, but that’s about as far as you should go with it.

NJD @ ANA

Lots of value in this game to pick on. Anaheim is a solid team at home, but the Devils aren’t exactly a push over team. You can target players from both teams here, just make sure you pick the right ones.

Let’s start with Anaheim. Their top line is an easy play to look at. The Kesler line usually gets the assignment of matching up against opposing teams top line, giving the Getzlaf line all the space in the world to work. If you want to go with the top line of Corey Perry, Rickard Rakell and Ryan Getzlaf in a GPP, go right ahead. You’ll have a hard time fitting all three in a cash game lineup, but if you aren’t a fan of my Laine/Wheeler mini-stack, you can find room for Rakell/Getzlaf.

The real value in this game is Adam Henrique and Brandon Montour. Both players are seeing top PP minutes and both players are very reasonably priced on both sites. I would start building my cash game lineups around those two players. That will allow you to pay up for some top talent in other places.

In goal, John Gibson is a sold option to consider. The Devils can score some goals, but I don’t think they’ll be able to come out of Anaheim with a win. This game has the lowest goal total on the slate, so that tends to be a good sign.

As for the Devils, Their second line is where you should focus your attention. Nico Hischier and Michael Grabner are a bargain on DK. Grabner is a great salary relief option to consider. He isn’t listen on any of the Devils’ PP units, but he’s expected to skate on the second line, so that’s fine with me.

I’m not worried about Hischier going up against the top line in Anaheim. If anything, that might help drive their ownership down.

On the blueline, Sami Vatanen is the only option to look at. There are other defenceman I like more than him (Myers, Byfuglien, Dunn, etc.), but if you are going the GPP route, he can be a nice single bullet option.

There’s a good chance Cory Schneider gets the start for New Jersey. East coast teams tend to really struggle when heading out west. It’s definitely due to the time change and how that affects the body. I can’t really recommend Schneider in cash games, but I’ll definitely throw him into a GPP lineup
