Jarred Vanderbilt looked good as Minnesota's starting power forward on Monday, tallying eight points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block over 29 minutes.

Vanderbilt finished 3-of-4 from the field and 2-of-4 from the line, and the only real negative in his play today was the three turnovers. He tied his career-high with the steals, and the Timberwolves set a new season-high with 16 swipes on the evening. The Wolves have been searching for a solid option at the four-spot, and Vanderbilt may be their guy, considering how awful Juancho Hernangomez (COVID-protocol) has been — so he's worth a look if you've got someone to cut.

Jarrett Culver snatched three steals and blocked one shot across 19 minutes off the bench in Monday's loss to the Hawks.

Culver added seven points (3-of-6 FG, 1-of-2 FT), seven rebounds and three turnovers while he was out there, and he should be seeing more opportunity on offense over the next few weeks while Karl-Anthony Towns (COVID-19) is in quarantine. He's worth a look in 16-team settings, although he's too inconsistent to roster in standard leagues.

Malik Beasley went just 5-of-17 from the field on his way to 15 points, four triples, five rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and three turnovers in 34 minutes.

Beasley got hot late, but he was awful for most of the game, not reaching double figures in the scoring department until late in the fourth quarter. Anthony Edwards also had a tough time getting his shot to drop, going 5-of-16 from the field for 12 points, five rebounds, two 3-pointers, two assists and one turnover in 30 minutes off the bench.

Dakota Mathias is going to be waived by the Sixers.

Mathias filled in when several Sixers went into quarantine, averaging 6.0 points and 1.6 assists in 15.4 minutes per game. He made eight appearances and started two games. This roster change is for flexibility reasons, and Philly doesn't have another imminent move in place.

D'Angelo Russell dropped in a game-high 31 points on 11-of-22 shooting (3-of-5 FT) Monday, to go with six triples, seven dimes, three boards, four steals, one block and three turnovers in 32 minutes.

Russell's four steals matched a career-high, and he got all of them through the first half of action. He did a nice job of creating havoc in the passing lanes, but he didn't get much help from his teammates, with D'Lo being the only guy with double digits in the scoring department until there were three minutes left in the game. The Timberwolves have now lost nine of their past 10 games, and it'll be tough for them to turn things around while Karl-Anthony Towns (COVID-19) is in quarantine for the next few weeks.

Cameron Johnson will start on MLK Day vs. Memphis, sending Jae Crowder to the second unit.

Monty Williams has been hinting that he had been planning to tweak his starting unit, and Johnson should see a nice boost with the starters, as he'll be more likely to flirt with close to 30 minutes. Crowder has been too inconsistent this season to trust in most 12-team leagues, and it's tough to see that improving with the demotion to the second unit.

Xavier Tillman is in the starting lineup for Monday's MLK Day game vs. Phoenix, with Jonas Valanciunas (COVID-protocol) unavailable.

Joining Tillman in the starting unit today will be Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson and Brandon Clarke. JV is likely going to miss the week, so Tillman is worth scooping up to see what he can do with a starting role. Gorgui Dieng should also see some increased opportunity, and he too is on the radar in deep leagues.

Lonzo Ball (knees) was a full participant in Monday's practice.

Stan Van Gundy said on Saturday that he was optimistic about Ball being able to get back within the next week, so him getting through a full practice today is encouraging. The Pelicans will wait to see how he responds to the increased workload and how he looks at tomorrow's shootaround, but it's worth noting that he said he's planning to play, so it sounds like he'll be back in action after a three-game absence on Tuesday vs. Utah. If he is able to return, Nickeil Alexander-Walker will likely return to the second unit and Eric Bledsoe won't have the ball in his hands as much.
