Below is a breakdown Tuesday’s two-game NHL DFS slate followed by example lineups.

Teams to Target

Welcome back, everyone! We have up to two games going on today with the New York Islanders against the Philadelphia Flyers and the Vancouver Cancucks taking on the Vegas Golden Knights. The Islanders and Flyers have collectively struggled to generate much offence in this series. In the last week only Kevin Hayes, Sean Couturier, and Josh Bailey have had 3 points. I would look at Couturier today, as a one-off. You can pair him with Giroux or Voracek, but you are taking some risk. With the Islanders, I would look at putting Josh Bailey with Anthony Beauvillier. Beauvillier hasn’t been scoring a lot, but he has been putting lots of shots on goal, so he gives you a floor to work with. In the late game, I look to get shares of Vegas. Shea Theodore has five points and 16 shots in the last three games, Max Pacioretty is hot with three goals and an assist in the last three scorings in 30 percent of his shots. Lastly, Alex Tuch continues to get great opportunities and is available at a discount rate. The Cancuks are a little riskier. They have been shut out twice already in this series, but Elias Pettersson is worth paying up for he has four points in his last three games, his linemate Tyler Toffoli has also been effective since returning from injury, with four points himself. If you want to go contrarian with Vancouver, Bo Horvat isn’t a bad idea. He has three goals and has taken 12 shots in that same three-game span.

Value Plays

Paul Stastny (4,100 DK, 4,400 FD)  - Stastny doesn’t typically give you too much of a floor, but with his second line deployment, his potential for points on Vegas is high, especially for his price.

Josh Bailey (4,500 DK, 4,900 FD) - Bailey has led all Islanders players in points in the last three games. If you can get a couple of points from him tonight he will be well worth his price. Keep in mind though, he has almost no floor, as he does not put a lot of shots on goal.

Nate Schmidt (4,800-DK, 4,700 FD) - Schmidt is the opposite of Bailey, Schmidt has a nice shooting floor, and is effective driving the play from the back so he is a safer play from that perspective. His production hasn’t really been there with just one point, but that could certainly change tonight.

Goalies

The goalie situation today isn’t all that different from yesterday. Carter Hart and Semyon Varlamov are the safer cash-game plays. Vegas has the implied goals total at 5, with the Islanders as a slight favourite, but with the Flyers facing elimination, I expect a big game from Hart. Both Robin Lehner and Jacob Markstrom are viable starters as well, but I would look to use them in GPP’s only, as the score is likely to be higher in that Vegas vs Vancouver game.
