With baseball all day, it’s time for the MLB Best Bets and Prop Bets for today, April 24. It’s been quite the MLB season with a number of twists and turns.

With a number of surprises – from seeing the Oakland Athletics with more wins than the Houston Astros to Marcell Ozuna leading all players in home runs and RBI – we’ve made quite the number of adjustments to keep our betting heads above water. At times, we’ve increased the volume with which we’ve bet to help us along and we’ve also learned to avoid certain slates.

Hopefully, as you’ve tailed our MLB predictions, you’ve also taken notes as to what has been working and what hasn’t. Our process has maintained throughout, so let’s keep rolling here and see what looks good for today’s action.

MLB Picks, Predictions, & Best Bets Today, 4/24

After a few days away, and a big thanks to both Josh Wagner and Dan Servodidio for picking up the slack, I’m ready to throw down some MLB best bets for today. We’re in the back of most teams’ rotations right now, but there are still some pitcher props that have caught my eye, as well as some team totals and money lines. Let’s take a look!

Orioles vs. Angels Prediction: Wednesday, April 24th

While Angels southpaw Tyler Anderson has opened the season well, I’m just not buying into him sustaining this level, especially against a lineup like that of the Orioles. Led by a white-hot Adley Rutschman, the Orioles are posting a strong .341 wOBA with a .180 ISO against lefties.

They are averaging just under six runs per game on the season and they dominate just as much on the road as they do at home. Anderson’s current 4.66 FIP and 3.20 BB/9 are much better indicators of how he pitches as opposed to a VERY flukey 1.42 ERA. I like the Orioles in several spots in this game to lead off today’s MLB picks.

Astros vs. Cubs Prediction: Wednesday, April 24th

While there was some surprise to see the Astros struggle against lefty Jordan Wicks last night, I’m perfectly happy coming back to this game, given the pitching matchup. Jameson Taillon looked fine in his season-debut last week, but that came against a struggling Miami team that can’t seem to get out of its own way.

The Astros have shown strong plate discipline against righties this season, striking out less than 18% of the time while posting a respectable .318 wOBA. Their lefty bats are intimidating and while the overall product is not fully in midseason form, I think they wake up tonight.

On the other side, I just cannot support Spencer Arrighetti and his 11.57 ERA, despite a better-looking 3.44 FIP. The Cubs could be without Cody Bellinger today (ribs) which would be a major bummer, but the team is still a top-10 offense against right-handed pitching. With both pitchers potentially struggling early, our MLB predictions will side with some first-five fireworks.

Mets vs. Giants Prediction: Wednesday, April 24th

We’ll round up today’s MLB picks with the matchup in San Francisco. At some point, Blake Snell could easily turn around his season. Unfortunately for him (and good for us) I just don’t see this being the day. The Giants have taken the first two games of this series, but the Mets have been surprisingly strong against left-handed pitching this season.

In fact, the 15.3% strikeout rate against southpaws tells me they’re going to drive this pitch-count up and put Snell in a bad spot. And not only do I expect them to chase him early, but I also expect them to attack a bullpen that has thrown a lot of innings and posted just a 6.04 ERA over the past seven days. I won’t be looking at the full game, however, as I just don’t trust Sean Manaea much on the other side.
